Nope, not what I'm saying at all. I don't assume hatred on their parts at all, just a lack of understanding of how they impact others. |
This is such a ridiculous "argument". Everyone needs to cool their jets....oh and Merry Christmas![]() |
Have your worldly mind considered it is about them, not you? Not everything in this world is about you, my friend. When I say "Merry Christmas," I express my holiday mood. I am not in DC, so there is a lot less ass-clenching here, thank goodness. I don't know how you people handle all those opinionated assholes who deem themselves and their opinions as the center of the Universe. I can't say I'm an atheist, but I was raised by atheists in an atheist state, so spiritual forays aside, I'm pretty secular. People like you still annoy me to no end. I wish you were not around anymore. |
And there we have it, what this "Merry Christmas" parade is really about -- it's all about you, and screw everyone else. |
To clarify, I'm not talking about every person who says "Merry Christmas," just those who get really militant about their right to say Merry Christmas. |

Honestly I've never walked around saying Merry Christmas or any other holiday greeting to strangers. This whole thing is just odd. |
Not pp but....Actually in a memo sent in my office last Dec. we were encouraged to use "generic holiday greetings" and I quote. Only after there was such an uproar did they send a revised memo with much more "politically correct" language.
And truthfully I feel like more people went out of their way to say Merry Christmas, could have been my imagination, not sure. Nevertheless, my worries are much more centered around whether my D will get into the college of her dreams in a few weeks, of my next mortgage payment and the next political election. Christmas, holidays, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah...its all good. It's happy and well meaning. Let's not lose focus of that. |
Merry Christmas, you sorry bastard, and the hell with you anyway! (says PP). I am not a Christian, so I am not an authority on whether this comports with "the spirit of Christmas". |
Hi mom. |
You realize that 99% of the "war on Christmas" is made up by Fox News to keep their viewers riled up and tuned in? And the viewers buy it, hook, line, and sinker. |
We all know that if it's on Fox, it must be a real and pressing matter. |
Wait a minute, I thought the Annunciation was August? If so that would be a May baby not December. Or is that the Ascension in August? - Recovering Catholic |
It is not an exaggeration to say that Fox News had made my previously rational parents insane. They were always Republican, but not like this. They were basically anti taxes and that was it. They seem to have forgotten that we didn't even attend church when I was growing up! And now they are bothered that I don't take my kids to church. I really really hate Fox News. |
What's wrong with "happy holidays?" There are several Christian holy days during the Christmas season, not to mention Thanksgiving and New Year's. I don't think "happy holidays" is PC; people have been saying it for decades, if not longer. It's just an alternative greeting during a season that has many holy days and holidays. And if it happens to include people who celebrate other winter holidays, great! |
