Nobody. It's just another hobby horse for right wing professional victims.

Sweet fancy moses, are you saying the right wing is the side with the professional victims?

I don't care what anyone says to another person as long as it is said with kind intent.

Um, see, e.g., this entire thread. Also the whole Starbucks cup ridiculousness, anytime anyone says "War on Christmas" without irony, that one football coach who claims he simply cannot practice his religion anywhere but on the 50 yard line during football games with his students, Kim Davis, anyone complaining about the "P.C. brigade," proponents of abstinence-only sex "education," Roy Moore...did you need me to go on?

You really think self-identified victimhood on the right outweighs it on the left?

I have a strong suspicion that those insisting everyone say Merry Christmas are the same people who take great offense at non-Christians celebrating Christmas.

Which is it, people? Do you want to share your holiday or not? Get your shit together.

I think neither side can claim innocence.

PP again -- sorry, I didn't answer the question. I don't really know how to answer it, though, as I don't have an actual scale that defines, accounts for and weighs victimhood (let alone "right" and "left."). But my gut feeling, for what it's worth (which isn't much), is that it's close enough to equivalent on both sides for the difference to be statistically insignificant.

I'm not sure who complained about the snowflakes, or if the higher ups just decided to err on the safe side by removing anything related to winter after a staffer stood up at an all staff meeting of 200 and complained after the ED announced that we were being given Christmas Eve off in addition to the regular Christmas holiday. Everyone cheered but one person who complained that we should be given a free day of our choosing since not everybody celebrates a winter holiday. Then she went into great detail about her atheism and how offended she feels by the winter holidays...all of them...including Hanukkah.

I promise you I'm not a troll. We went from having a festive secular holiday party with winter snowflakes to an annual end of year party with random themes that nobody except the small planning committee bother to embrace. Some people do show up in Christmas sweaters or ties or reindeer headbands...and I'm not sure if that's in protest.

Maybe the higher-ups can take the next logical step, cancel the end-of-year party, and just give everybody an end-of-year bonus. One can hope.

I personally say Merry Christmas often during the month of December wherever I may be and it is always well received. Christmas is alive and well!!

Okay, so if someone says Happy Holidays with the true and genuine intention of wishing you ... wait for it ... happy holidays, whatever they may be, what is the problem?

I wouldn't mind. My neighbors say happy diwali to me and I'm not hindu. I just say happy diwali back.

I've decided to duct tape the mouths of anyone who doesn't offer me the appropriate winter greeting.

I'll wish you a Merry Saturnalia.

People have already turned Christmas into this over the top extravaganza with gifts for thousands of dollars, home decor shopping, overload of performances and events (my child saw 7 Santas last season), millions of cards and wrapping paper, Christmas radio and Christmas TV, enough food to feed an African village for a month. To top off this binge we just need to shout more about Merry Christmas. Yeah, because it's not loud enough already.

Please remember that winter does begin until December 21. If some gives you a greeting before then, it must be an autumn greeting. If it is inappropriate, you can then duct tape the offender's mouth
