No, it's not being turned into a greeting with a secret agenda. What's happening is that people are becoming better educated and aware, and realize that there's a huge portion of the population that not only doesn't celebrate Christmas, but may have their own religious celebrations that occur during the November/December time frame. Saying "Happy Holidays" incorporates Christmas, but also the other religious holidays the person might celebrate, and Thanksgiving/New Years. So when I hear someone wishing random people "Merry Christmas," I don't assume it's malicious, but I do tend to assume the person is probably a little less educated (not in the bookish sense, but in the worldly sense).[/quote]
Yep if you say Merry Christmas people think you are a member of Westboro Baptist church, tea partiers protesting the Sand Hook parents and packing a gun. It has become a right wing greeting.[/quote]
