Actually, you are incorrect. These things have always gone on, but secrets were easier to keep. Like who on the street is being beaten unconscious by their husband, and what poor black kid is being beat on by an impatient cop. Now, they are being caught and shamed. From the data I've seen, morals are actually improving in the country. I think when you say "the way things used to be", you mean "the days when it was easier to conceal bigotry, cruelty, adultery and ignorance, and thus ignore it" |

She lives in America. She knows all of this stuff is possible because she isn't THAT isolated. At the very minimum, she knows all of this because her church preaches against all of it every day of her life. She knows people in her church community who have gotten a divorce. She knows that divorce lawyers exist and what they do. She has a brain in her head. The only thing keeping her there is HER. She chooses this life and she chooses to support her tool of a husband. Her victimization is entirely of her own making. If she's too dumb for school, there's always welfare and child support. When the welfare runs out, she can get a job checking groceries at the Piggly Wiggly. I can't feel too sorry for her. She helps promote the same hateful, conservative agenda that he does. She stayed with him after she learned that he was a molester. If she chooses to stay, then she is just asking for more of the same. Suck it up, buttercup. |

These stories are examples of the IMPROVING morals of our country. This type of behavior is less accepted than it was. It gets tremendous play in the media and the men who engage in it are being called out. 50 years ago, no one would have reported this and the men who engaged in it would have gotten away with even a slap on the wrist. |

I keep coming back to this thread because I just can't believe it! All of that horses--t that everyone was throwing out about how he was just a kid and he's been forgiven for past mistakes, etc etc and he was gorging on porn and extramarital affairs.
