Now Trump can say, "Hey, at least I don't have a pic next to that Duggar dude!"

I can't wait to hear Trump deliver that line. LOL

That's true. Their defenders are oddly silent. Is that because this is in the entertainment section or people really jumped the Dugger ship?

Pretty sure that thread was on this board. There is no defending him at this point.

I looked at the Duggar fan page and basically the consensus seems to be sympathy for the parents, Josh is a dog, and Anna should leave him immediately.

That special was already filmed and TLC has (had?) scheduled it to air on the 30th. Duggars were pushing for that to become a regular series. RawStory reported that on the 18th, the day before or earlier the same day the Ashley Madison shit hit the fan.

Sympathy for the parents? They created the whole mess with their creepy cult, repressed and insular family life, and poor parenting!

Alright. I'm done with TLC. That's gross.

They're also on the cover of People magazine this week- the edition hit newsstands the day before the Ashley Madison reveal - in which they can't figure out why no one can forgive them re the molestation scandal.

You know, the TV series has opened those girls' worlds to a much broader experience than they would have had otherwise. They will have many more oppprtunities than they would have otherwise, and for the ones who might want to choose a different path, the ability to seethat there is another way. Some of the girls might actually make it through this just fine.

New show called "Breaking Duggar". Jinger will go on a road trip doing risque things - working as a bartender, a receptionist at a pole dancing studio, handing out clean syringes to drug addicts to prevent spread of HIV etc. She will move from state to state on a road trip. Her siblings and parents will make guest appearances as they try to talk her out of it.

Good point, it reminds me that there are a lot of similar families going through the same things (sexism, oppression, repression of sexual desires, abuse, neglect etc.) that we don't even know about. Some people are so oppressed and isolated that they don't even know that there are bigger and better things. At least these girls will have opportunities to rebel. Some girls might not have any opportunity at all, unless they want to literally be on their own and living on the street, which does happen when it comes to people getting out of fundie cults. These girls could easily get book deals (not saying they'd make millions but it'd be something) or other similar opportunities. I'm also sure that people would help them out if they were willing to get away from their families. Heck, if one of them knocked on my door needing a place to stay I'd welcome them in, as long as they were ready to move on from their family.

The Duggar children are not allowed to even date, their "courting" is with chaperones, and they don't even kiss someone until they get married. And they get married hella young. I agree Josh sounds really messed up, but honestly I blame his parents and his upbringing. If he had been allowed to have normal guy friends (where they talk about girls, etc., I think of the movie Boyhood where the kids are looking at boobs in a Victoria Secret magazine, the scene was funny but probably realistic, boys are curious about girls), date girls where he could have regular high school dating issues, maybe go off to college where he could mature even more, then he wouldn't be so messed up. Now he is all sick in the head. The stuff with his sister was so gross, but should have been a huge red flag to his parents that their household and lifestyle aren't healthy.

Agree but also think Jim Bob and Josh are both sex addicts.

I wonder if Jim bob is faithful to Michelle.

Please God, someone make this happen.
