You seem to have lost track of human decency. |
| Yes, some.religious groups feel very strongly about gay marriage. The act of marriage itself..they may have a wide variety of feelings about gays but not support gay marriage. They lost in the courts - OK. No, I would not force them ro hang out all day at the celebration. That seems greedy and insensitive. I was raised that winners should be gracious. The change is already here, its not rolling back, find a photographer who would be delighted to celebrate with you. Wedding photography is very intimate - I would not force someone to be there who didn't want to or punish them if their beliefs prevented them from celebrating with ne. |
No, I mean it. You really did lose track of this exchange. I was called an anti-Christian bigot for being anti-Christian because I had no sympathy for those unable to work with gay people. In response I said "Wrong. I am a Christian". |
I'm so glad you brought up the concept of protected classes. Who determines them? Certainly, illegal immigrants are a protected class - not only do they get benefits, they don't get deported after committing crimes. Federal laws be damned! Who has to follow those? And our veterans? Not so much - see the VA Hospital crisis. Sex offenders are certainly a protected class. Even at the expense of children. How else does the Montgomery County Public School Systems defend keep a known sex offender on its teacher roll, sacrificing many children, including a five year old girl in the process? I'm sure you'll not believe me on this, so here's the link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/ex-montgomery-music-teacher-indicted-on-39-counts-of-sexual-abuse-of-girls-including-rape/2014/02/27/fa050882-9feb-11e3-a050-dc3322a94fa7_story.html You want protected classes at the expense of little children? Taxpayers? Christians? Who else do you want to sacrifice? |
This is why lawyering isn't a do it yourself with a fifth grade education. |
Protected classes are a concept with a specific legal definition. A group of people can be protected under state law (as LGBT people are in Oregon) or federal law or both, but the classes are specifically spelled out in law. |
Can you be forced to hire a fat nanny if you don't want to? (She can do the job.) |
This is the level of conversation with conservatives. Feel like I do when I'm with first graders. |
That's being unkind to first graders. |
| Why not answer a simple question? |
Who determines protected classes? Well my Legal Beagle, I'll let you in on a secret. Once a year a committee convenes. Oprah chairs it, and the other voting members are the current head of OWS, Rosie O'Donnell, that New Black Panther with a billy club, the Indian from the Village People, an Angry Black Woman with an Obamaphone and Sandra Fluke. We were halfway through our 2015 selection process. About to establish a pathway to citizenship for Rescue Pitbulls. We were debating how to calculate the Social Security retirement age in dog years, when... Hold the Presses! Cait Jenner made her debut! Billy Jean King graciously tabled the Pitbull resolution in the interest of the Greater Good. And that is why if you ever call Cait Jenner a "he", you legally have to pay her ten thousand dollars. Each time. Job well done, Team! Can't wait to see what wins in 2016. Oprah thinks the Pitbull Citizenship resolution will carry. But me? I think gender quotas for the NBA. It's Time! |

I hate SuperPacs. My company decided to start one. I have to function as the Treasurer. I do my duty. If I were unable to do my duty, my other choice would be to find a new job.
Do your job or leave your job. When you enter the world of commerce and government regulation - not allowed to discriminate against blacks for instance - you have to play by the rules. If you can't provide your service legally because it violates your conscience, you need to stop providing the service. Render onto Caesar what is Caesar's. |
| I think gay men can be pretty good bakers. Doesn't every town have some? |
| I'm waiting for the day a muslim bakery is forced to make a cake for LGBT couple. |
|
How can I be certain that a bakery is in fact Muslim? Does the building whisper Alhamdulillah to me as I enter? Does it have a giant prayer rug rolled up like an awning for daily prayers? Does the door automatically lock when someone wearing a shirt bearing a likeness of the Prophet Muhammed is about to enter?
Same question for a Christian bakery. Where does one take a bakery to be Christened or Baptized? |
