| "50/50 when it comes to diversity." What does that mean? There are multiple races/religions? |
They are truly diverse. I will leave it at that. |

"They are truly diverse. I will leave it at that."
Not a satisfying answer. |
Look they are diverse as well as the school. I feel no need to go into further detail. |
I forgot to add that even if they did skew white (and they do not) what does it matter as long as every kid is given a fair shot? All students are assessed multiple times and placed accordingly and adjustments are made as needed. They are also given many supports. Perhaps if DCPS offered more rigorous math instruction with more practice, more kids would end up taking higher levels of math. The bottom line is that BASIS actually offers every student advanced math and has the goal of all students taking Algebra 1 by 7th grade which is very advanced in my book. My husband and I did not take Algebra 1 till 9th grade! Not everything is about race, you know. |

It doesn't matter. But that was my point. If you are the pp who wrote that .... , then it will help such a school to not skew white." my reading of what you wrote was that you might think that it is a problem if it does skew white. That you have a demographic agenda after all. It likely will skew white (from time-to-time). You may not be comfortable discussing your definition of diversity, but mine would be would be something that tracks world population. No race/religion/culture would have a majority or even close. Lots of Asian, middle easterners, Latinos mixed in with whites and blacks. I think that it would be much harder for us to dismiss each other as racial stereotypes if all of our assumptions would be challenged from all sides. Personally i'm sick of racism and sick of what I perceive as reverse racism. peace.
