I feel no need to go into further detail.[/quote] I forgot to add that even if they did skew white (and they do not) what does it matter as long as every kid is given a fair shot? All students are assessed multiple times and placed accordingly and adjustments are made as needed. They are also given many supports. Perhaps if DCPS offered more rigorous math instruction with more practice, more kids would end up taking higher levels of math. The bottom line is that BASIS actually offers every student advanced math and has the goal of all students taking Algebra 1 by 7th grade which is very advanced in my book. My husband and I did not take Algebra 1 till 9th grade! Not everything is about race, you know.[/quote]
