Yes, they do. They also stop and ask me where I'm going before I'm allowed to get in. Many pull off if they aren't comfortable with my destination. One of the many reasons why I rarely take cabs. I will say that the ones who stop are SUPER friendly and think we're brothers/sisters. -AA female |
Did it matter what you were wearing when it happened, ie they would pick you up if you were in a business suit but not in sweats? |
Not while in the US. I did use it while in Jamaica & Bermuda. The sun was crazy strong. -AA female (dark-skinned) |
OP here. Never been stopped for DWB. When I was in grad school, there were places that I was told never to go (this was in the 90s) |
No. It was more the destination that they thought I was going to (Brooklyn), not what I was wearing. |
I haven't, but my brother and my sister's boyfriend has (both are in their early 20's, have shoulder length dreads and sometimes drive my Dad's Cadillac). |
| Do people avoid you, say walking down the street, when they see you especially if you are in a group with other blacks? Do you use the N word? |
|
WTH? Several black women have posted in this thread, and as far as I can tell, only two talked about weed, and one of them only smoked it once. I'm 23:16, and this is the ridiculous preconception stuff.
Signed, A black woman who smoked weed once 20 years ago and knows of several white people who make a habit of it ---------------------------------- Please don't feed the trolls after dark. -OP |
| Do you have a family member in jail? |
| Why do AA men marry/hit on White Women so much? |
OP Here. Ahhhhhhhh, 9 pages and someone finally asked the "N word" question. Yes, guilty as charged but I'm not proud of it and like any other bad habit, I wouldn't want to pass it to my son. Just being honest. |
Define "so much" and I will try (not) to answer you. |
Nope. I have an uncle who is a corrections officer and my mom is a judge. |
I'm a female, so I don't really deal with the fear thing. But some people do think that just because I'm upset/frustrated/irritated, etc about something that I'm some irrational angry black woman who's about to fly off the handle. Really don't like that stereotype. And yes, I use the "n" word. As I get older, I don't do it as much and I never do it around white people.
No -AA woman |
AA female here. From what I've heard (and overheard), it's because some black men think white women are easy and/or will do anything sexually. They also think they're pushovers and will deal with anything without giving them a lot of hassle. |
