Well, he was a Jew with no money. What do you think?

This comment was made nearly a year ago, but it is the hands-down FUNNIEST post ever on DCUM. And I bet that Jesus was not a Southern Republican!

Jesus was black

I meant to say that our pool does not exclude anyone on the basis of color, religion, ethnic background, education, social status, employment, etc. But you have to have some money to join our pool, so the only people it excludes are those who do not possess the very small amount of money it costs to join. I'm OK with that because the cost of the pool pays for the expense of running it, but does not buy exclusivity, social status or any of those intangibles that come with a membership in a pricey, exclusive club like CCC.

That's right, keep back pedaling, hon. Your halo is a little ajar.

I loved CCCC and learned to swim and ice skate there. My sister played tennis for the team, and my other sister swam on the swim team. That darn blank gun used to scare the heck out of me. I met and maintained life long friends from CCCC. No, we were not Catholic. Our church was on the Close. I'm sure the dues were much less in the 70's, but it was a gorgeous club and with six kids I'm willing to bet my Dad got his $ worth! If my Dad was still living I believe he would say being a member was one of the many highlights of his life. My mother is ninety and still gets cards from her living friends from Westmoreland Hills and her friends from Chevy Chase Club as we called it way back when. I hope the current members are getting the same joy out of the club as our family did way back then.

It used to be very difficult to obtain membership. Has that changed? I met a family that just moved into our neighborhood that said they were joining this club. They seemed very confident that they would be admitted. They struck me as odd and social climbers. Is membership automatic there if you have a sponsor?

Many threads are old. What's your point? Don't read it if you don't want to.

Are you kidding?

1. Chevy Chase
2. Congressional
3. Columbia

Everything else is the B list.

And most people talking about initiation fees- other than 15:59- have no idea what they're talking about!

My son's hockey team played against CCC the other day. He came out of the locker room very impressed and they offered coffee and cookies to the parents. It's clear they put the membership fees to good use. It was a 60 degree day and their outdoor rink's cooling system still allowed good ice conditions to play on. This was the same day that Obama played a round of golf with his aids.

I can't speak much beyond the ice rink area, which had an overlooking restaurant and 2 balconies to watch from, but I can understand paying the fees if given the opportunity to join. Its pretty rare that I see landscaping so well maintained staff as friendly as at CCC.

I'd also mention Charlottesville's ice rink as a good example of public amenities that can provide as nice of an environment to play at, but no where else my son's played has been near as nice.

Obama playing golf with his aids? You should be blackballed. Aides, aids. Look up difference in words.

You belong to Chevy Chase Club, you made it in life. Congressional and Columbia are a step below Chevy Chase Club. Very hard to get into, very remarkable place. Historic and a great location only 400 yards from DC.

Why isn't Obama joining Chevy if it is so great?

Chevy Chase Club is hard to get into. Old world charm. The epitome of Country Club. Congressional is just a massive club house and two nice golf courses. Not many Clubs like Chevy have 1 gardens, a nature trail, and a full size hockey rink...

Isn't it the only outdoor hockey ring in DC?
