As some of us have noted repeatedly, this is simply not true. Amy Carter did not attend Holton. You are just perpetuating an urban myth. Plus, note that Jimmy Carter was long gone from Washington before Amy "finished" school.

This mystery should be easy to solve. Some people posting here claim to have annuals from the 1970s, and claim that Christine Lagarde is pictured there. So just look at an annual from one of the years Amy Carter supposedly attended, and see if she's there. If she is, scan the pic and post it.

I'm PP who questioned whether Amy Carter went there and I'm satisified that she did.

Amy Carter DID NOT go to Holton Arms. She went to Stevens Elementary, a DC public school.

I just searched Google News from 1975-85. No hits for Amy Carter & Holton Arms. I found several articles noting her time at Stevens Elementary in 1977 & 1978. I found an article from 1978 quoting the Carters as denying that they're applying to NCS or other private schools. I found one NY Times article from the early 1990s, saying that Carter attended Stevens Elementary and Hardy Middle schools. And I found a few articles from the early 1980s, saying that Amy Carter was attending a private school in Atlanta.

There's a bit of a gap from 1979-1983. She seemingly attended Hardy Middle during some portion of that gap, but it's not clear where she was the whole time.

I am becoming obsessed with the Amy Carter mystery. Here is a People article from April 1982, which talks about how Amy Carter is settling back into school life in Georgia. It includes this comment: "Most of all, she talks of her days at the Hardy Middle School, the Washington public school where she spent three years."

So now we know she was at Stevens Elementary 1977-78, and firmly back in Georgia by 1982. That leaves a gap of 1979-1981, which would mesh perfectly with Carter's comments about spending three years at Hardy.

Still nothing to disprove some Holton time, but it's looking less likely.

No mention of Holton. A couple mentions of Stevens Elementary.

I was there. You weren't...and neither was Amy Carter.

Anybody who is from this area and was alive and aware during the Carter presidency know that AMY CARTER DID NOT GO TO HOLTON. It's just not true. But I like the effort of the person or persons who is keeping this thread alive.

Didn't the Bush girls go to Bullis?

I agree with you that she never went to Holton. But there are hundreds of websites out there (notably including Wikipedia) that claim she did attend Holton -- http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=%22amy+carter%22+%22holton+arms%22 -- so it's not unreasonable for people to believe it. I think a lot of those websites are repeating misinformation from Wikipedia. If someone is really dedicated, you could look at the public Wikipedia log (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Amy_Carter&limit=500&action=history) to find the IP address of the person who added the false Holton info to Amy Carter's entry. Wouldn't it be delicious if the false info came from a Holton Arms IP address?

No -- Holton never ever claimed that Amy Carter went there. They don't need to make stuff up...they have enough truly impressive alums. Someone on DCUM made it up.

I', 6:56 and I'm dialing back on my assumption that she went to Holton. I originally was skeptical because I grew up in DC and I remember only the public schools. But I did a wikipedia search and it says Holton, which is really weird because (1) I think I would remember that, and (2) the rest of you seem to have the scoop.

So, the wiki is wrong.

Here is the Wiki edit saying Amy Carter went to Holton --

It does not appear to be coming from Holton itself.

Susan Ford went to Holton Arms, not Amy Carter.

Wikipedia is not the old World Book encyclopedia, with its more rigorous standards of editorial control.

Wiki is lame written by lame people with no oversight. Get a life folks and get some real sources. Don't blame Holton for DCUM Dummies claiming that Amy Carter went there. They never claimed that and why would they? She's not even impressive.
