In this area, there are far more examples of girls going RL to GA to ECNL than there are of RL to ECNL. ECNL coaches often dismiss RL players without much of a look. |
I can confirm 5-6 new ECNL girls for next year’s U13 (former 2014) age group. |
Yes, all from outside, none from younger 2013 red or white girls; both have strong players. This is where Arlington falls down on developing existing talent. |
Do the ECNL teams mostly practice around Long Bridge park? Several of these new players are coming from far away so im curious if Arlington makes their ECNL practices a little more accessible to fairfax and loudoun county in particular. |
| They do not consider where anyone lives when making the practice schedule LOL. |
| Personally I'd rather shoot myself then drive from Loudoun to Long Park at rush hour 3 times a week. |
You would judge a person's play on one day as opposed to perhaps four years of practice and games? No purpose at all to have existing players there. They know those players. If they were an 8 and played a 10 or a 6 on that day it would not matter. And having them there detracts from the ability to focus on the new people. |
No |
Several girls from the 2011 RL team practice with the ECNL team but have never been called up to guest play in a game. It doesn't matter how high an RL team is ranked-it's almost impossible to make that leap to an ECNL team at that age, you have to look for other pathways. |
Sorry, I shouldn’t have been so binary. Where do they typically practice? By typically, let’s assume 75% of the time. TYSM |
It's completely based on field availability. We are all over the place. |
Sorry it is dumb. They take outside girls based on two practices but overlook the records of girls from other Arlington teams that have been playing on the red team. |
Dumb unless you are trying to expand your customer base and drive profit. |
Yup, exactly. I see it for what it is and I think my daughter is starting to also. |
| They have no interest in promoting lower team kids. Boys or girls. |
