Arlington RL to ECNL

More than any other club, Arlington’s RL is a graveyard where you get trapped because they make sure you do not ever become good enough to be promoted. You have to leave the club to get noticed. LOL just look at who their RL coaches are - your kid is condemned before they step on the field. Arlington stakes a lot in ensuring there is and remains a huge gap between RL and NL so they can always say we need to shop outside the club.

Arlington has always cared exclusively about their top teams. They care very little about the boys side which they also have written off unless they don’t need to do much work because the team drives itself, then they just insert a coach for the instagram shot. One exception to this is that EA is an excellent boys coach. All the other players from RL and down are there simply as capital to pay for the infrastructure. Worse than VDA in my opinion.

Absolutely not true. RL parents here our coaches have been great. I wouldn’t say across the board but we have been happy with RL as my kid also want to play other sports

So they never promote kids up off RL, does that mean no one ever moves up from the third team to RL?

Kids do get moved up. Depend on the age group and the year

No, that will happen. They still bring in new kids to RL when kids from the 3rd team deserve a shot. But, those coaches talk more (and are sometimes the same person) so it is much more frequent.

All the clubs… (ignoring fvu) are doing this.

Right. RL is fine and good if it is your happy landing place, like if you play other sports and just want a comfy local soccer experience. But if you’re trying to get to NL then Arlington RL is a dead end.

They haven't even told current rl teams about the new dates for tryouts (I'm sure they told the external folks).

ru does this to their RL teams, will make offers to OTHER RL players from outside the area but a player on the inside can never move up from within. at least are other clubs you can move to in nova.

If they aren’t taking their own Aug - Dec RL girls moving down, they’re just dumb.

Exactly.

Why should a club not take the best girl regardless of previous club or birthday?
Anonymous
Because once you are 2nd team after U13 and up, you are just pegged 2nd team. That’s it. And it’s almost impossible to change. First team players get more training, better training, more games and showcases, and overall better peers. Weight lifting. Fitness. Individual progress tracking. The difference by U15 is stark. A girl might look great on RL but they will not be a star on NL. And to boot a current player, you would need to be quite a star.

But my RL team is good and staying allows me to complain about what the club is doing wrong. And how they are holding my child back.

They should, and those should absolutely include Aug - Dec RL kids that have been playing older and stronger kids the last several years.
