Why is that dumb? They already got your money. They are seeking new funding to support the club. Hence, they select outsider to join. That is all the clubs around here. Look at VDA; I don't think any RL players from PWSI or VSA got promoted to VDA. Same as FVU; I doubt they promoted any kids from the six clubs (BRYC, Herndon, LMVS, Valor, Vienna, CVF) |
For U15 - I think one got in from PWSI |
ID sessions were open to all this year so seems like they did consider these types of players. |
They prefer to bring in new customers to the higher teams. They know you will pay for the 3rd, 4th, 5th team again so why promote. Its business. |
Arlington said they were open, but then didn't invite RL players until the 3rd ID session when all the slots were already taken. They held secret ID sessions and then denied it when asked. It's all a sham. |
| How do you hold a secret ID session for outside players? They wouldn't know about it unless you advertised it? |
|
I don’t think it’s any big conspiracy. It’s just a tendency to think that something new is better when they’ve only seen a few good glimpses, instead of realizing they have the same talent on their own teams, but may also have seen some of the bad plays.
The “we want more $” argument doesn’t really make sense - they haven’t increased number of teams in a while. They’ll have the same “number of customers” regardless. |
RU parent: I got emails from your NL director asking me to upload game film of my DD, she's on a RL team. |
But you will stay |
| We will try out elsewhere next year if there’s not decent upward movement after age change + player improvement. We’re still U12. |
|
We are on our 2nd club now and both clubs are guilty of this. Both clubs will give offers to outside players over current club players.
We barely see any internal players move up, but outside club players come along and BAM! 1st team offer! This is a WIN-WIN for the club: 1. Extra Revenue 2. No parent/ 2nd team drama This is probably the number 1 reason why kids leave clubs. To get promoted or pissed they got passed over for external players. |
|
It just seems like it would be a better business model to promote at least one kid a year. Otherwise, why would anyone from the outside every accept a second team offer?
|
They do typically, what they almost never do is relegate kids as that is the fastest way to get a family out the door. However, if your kid is on the bubble one place, they may be what's needed somewhere else. The club does not have your kids best interests in mind, tryout elsewhere to see what's possible. |
So then they would have to demote 1 kid a year from the first team to second team if they want to keep the roster size manageable |
|
On the girls' side this is the same at all of the local clubs. As a PP said by U14 and I would argue by U13 all of the extra attention for the first team players puts them way above the second team. Even players that are close get remebered for what they were not what they are at that moment. That is why a quick look at a player from another club gets traction.
Best bet for all of the local clubs is to try to move clubs to get to the top team. In the past 1-2 girls from RL moved up to NL during the season if there were injuries or dropouts and they ended up staying. |
