What a mess?

PS, for anyone who hasn't been paying attention, they have been destroying our economy. Job revisions for 2025 are horrible, we have been bleeding jobs. The latest GDP report, released today, was abysmal, while PCE inflation report ran hotter than expected.

Of course now that prices go down with tariffs being removed, Trump will take the credit though it took the Supreme Court to save Trump from himself and his crappy policies.

Roberts Court saves Trump from his bad policy

Its always been the terms of the conservative elites' bargain with Trump. Do all the fascism you want, but do NOT mess with the money.

How am I going to be reimbursed?!

You don't have a claim against the government (probably). The importer paid the government. You paid the importer or customs broker. You need to take it up with them.

So will this be a giant windfall for UPS and FedEx who paid the tariffs and got reimbursed by their customers, and will now get reimbursed again the gov?

No if UPS paid the tax and got reimbursed by the customer the customer will have proof they paid the tax.

But in that case the customer did not pay the tax. It paid UPS. UPS paid the tax.

No in this example UPS paid the tariff and was reimbursed by the customer. I had this happen to me. I ordered ceramic planters. The price jumped from $120 each to $500 each. Was contacted by the shipper saying this is your new cost because of tariffs. I declined and I have no idea what happened to the items.

If I had said yes. The shipper would have paid the tariffs and I would have had to pay the additional money before the shipper would release the items.

So how is that different than a case where I buy something from a store and they include a tariff surcharge to cover their tariff cost? Does the store get the refund or do I?

You didn't pay the government so you have no claim against the government. For any refund, you would need to go and ask the retailer for a refund.

And I didn’t pay the government in the UPS case either. UPS did.

So does that mean Trump's threats against Canada and Europe have no teeth anymore, and they won't have to cower to his whims?

Would be such a shame if he strikes out on camera during this ranting.

The best move for Trump would be to write checks to America for the tariff refund but then he has to admit we paid them

Trumps $2,000 tariff checks would cost 450-600 billion. The tariffs tax has raised $287 billion - $12 billion per year for farmers(remember have to provide grain at below market prices for China). Trump’s tax cost Americans $1,000-1,700 per person per year.

Also the tax was paid by business and passed on to consumers. Consumer just paid the increase price. Only business may get the money back but Trump could make it extremely difficult to get the money- ie each business would have to sue the federal government, lots of red tape, delays, etc.

Guess what? We can tax the billionaires who have profited off this tanking of the economy. They can pay.

Trump announces a new 10% global tariff.

Good luck, GOP, in the midterms.

He claims a man at the factory visit yesterday said “Mr president I want to kiss you so badly”
!!
“We were working one hour a week and now we work 24 hrs a day”

This is such nonsense. He is talking about all the new jobs. All the new factories being built. The booming economy.
