The bite of having to interact with your children for more than 48 hours is bearing down on some, i see. |
The county doesn't clear parking lots. A combination of MCPS plows and contractors do parking lots. |

Meanwhile MCPS couldn’t even bother to get a virtual learning emergency plan approved by the State of Maryland |
Most districts have the sense to not do virtual. That's the worse option. This isn't a year-long emergency. Do we can make-up days. |

Because of y’all. The public comments process was going to be an unnecessarily drawn out process because all of you think your opinion adds something of value. It rarely does. It just slows down the process and creates a situation in which the many are miserable because you cannot pacify the few. |
You work for a system that has for the past 15 years been doing worse and worse at educating students. And since the pandemic massive grade inflation and no real discipline leading to schools that are unsafe for kids and staff. Are you really surprised that families are frustrated and angry? Are you really trying to blame them for MCPS's glaring failures that demonstrate a utter disregard for the wellbeing of our kids? |
Yes, one of the few good decisions they made was jumping to what we all already know: "virtual learning" doesn't work for too many students to be a legitimate option. |
+1 |
So many Frederick Co parents are unhappy with the decision for tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see their attendance rates. I have heard some parts of Carroll Co are okay, but they would have far less walkers than MCPS. |
15 years ago... that's about the same time we started cutting per-pupil funding. Funny how that works. Maybe we'd be in a difference place for virtual if you were willing to pay taxes. But I know your summer European vacations are so important to you. And especially important to schedule for the end of June, despite the potential for school days. |
My Frederick friends are frustrated with the delay, but mostly just happy they're not closed. |
| This seems to be because MCPS takes on the liability burden of getting students to school, whereas other systems do not. Are there creative ways to work around that? Waiver for bus riding/attendance? Optional open days? |
