He's a college student at NYU...which is in NYC, one of the most populous cities in America. There are other ways for him to meet girls.

I have kids the same age. They are not meeting randos online from across the ocean. One is dating someone they met in school and the other one is dating someone they met at their summer job. Normal 19-20 year olds are not having virtual relationships with people miles away that they have basically nothing in common with.

I feel bad for B and think he’s likely neurodivergent and his dad won’t acknowledge it. The way he dresses and wears his hair, which is very dissimilar to other boys his age, is I think another sign of this.

You are nuts to diagnose someone based on their hair style. My kids are European and they don't follow stupid American teenagers fashion trends. By your logic, they must be neurodivergent.

That is not the only reason. I know people that went to HS with him. But being unable to pick up on subtle social cues (like clothing and hairstyle) is definitely a symptom of neurodivergence. If you are from a different culture, then of course you are picking up on different social cues. Also, it’s different than a kid who affirmatively decides to reject social cues. I’m not diagnosing him but it’s my gut instinct based on a constellation of things — and I feel bad for him because it’s hard to be neurodivergent in the public eye, and also his dad obviously has a very narrow view of how people should be and isn’t totally the most accepting person. Then again his dad is already so far into dementia that he probably doesn’t even pick up on any neurodivergence.
Neurodivergent kids are also at higher risk of being taken advantage of by unscrupulous people on line, both because they tend to be more lonely, more trusting and miss some of the subtle cues that something is “off.”

He should have actually taken a screen shot or recorded what he saw on the FaceTime call—that would be better evidence. or showing up to testify — hard to get a conviction if he is the only witness and refuses to testify. Did the girl testify?

I don't know whether Barron is in college. I don't know whether Barron is autistic or not. I've never met him, nor am I qualified to diagnose. His mother says he is not autistic, and it makes me uncomfortable that others feel they want to diagnose people they have never met based on a few video clips.

That said, autistic people can have friends, so I'm not understanding the link to the fact that he can only make friends online even if he does have autism...especially for a kid in the White House with such a high profile, I'm pretty shocked that they're letting him have that kind of freedom to just randomly connect to older women on the internet. So much could go wrong (and arguably in this case, it already has.)

I also think he is ND. It’s a common situation for children of elderly fathers. Plus he attended St Andrew’s, which has a reputation for being helpful in that area.

Calm down. We are very liberal family in Arlington and my kids attended several international schools around the world. They do have friends in London, Dubai and Singapore and they talk to each other at different times. Have you kids ever travel internationally and meet anyone or you just go to cruises?
