It was too sunny and hard to see at early and late games because the sun was too low making the video bad |
| Silver lakes is not bad. It is winter there so turf is dormant. By turf, we are talking Bermuda grass. As part of my job, I’m a groundkeeper for golf courses and this is the reason the turf looks a little dry. Some of the players said the artificial turf is too hard, but from what I could see it wasn’t in bad condition. Most college teams play on grass so your player should get used to it and stop complaining. |
So now the sun was bad? Wouldn't you have the same issue no matter where you played in America depending on the time of day? I guess GA could address your sun issue by playing in Australia or anywhere else in the southern hemisphere. |
The grass is RT really bad. Even the most technical player will get tricked by the bouncy ball in those silver lakes fields. The weather is great though. |
Weird, I thought Australia was pretty sunny… |
| Daughters team was in CA and went 3-0 in the champions cup portion. Was told there were a lot of coaches there. From what I was told it sounded like a pretty good number. |
| I’m certainly not complaining about the sun. Our team just simply did not play well. No excuses. Just bad soccer. |
How did you feel about the event overall? |
Similar to last summer’s Nationals. Good coach turnout, rediculous parking fees, great weather and well organized. Refs were good for the most part. But when the team under performs, none of that really matters. Takes the wind out of the sails. |

As a coach/director my take on this is:
GA level ranges too wide. There are some truly horrible teams in the GA, rec-level IMO. The top level teams are athletic but the soccer is crap. It's hard for any college coach to come and watch anything because the ball is just bouncing all over the place and getting kicked everywhere. I imagine GA has a 5-7 year plan on building the platform as a college recruiting league so they are going to have to purge a lot of teams out soon. |
Ranges are too wide in all the leagues. There are some truly horrible teams in all Leagues. Say your an undercover ECNL hate with out saying it. |
| I mean no, I think GA will be fine in 5 years but as of right now, that is what the level is |
Yep, plenty to 10+ scores all over ECNL. Time to break them up, I guess. |
| Fantastic event, plenty of coaches in the house. Sorry, ECNL daddy hats. |
Such BS + an obvious ECNL parent. The GA event was Champions Cup teams who where the top of their leagues playing against each other and other invited teams playing against each other. Recruiters tended to stay near the Champions Cup games but Im sure they walked over to regular showcase games if there was a player they wanted to look at. The scores for Champions Cup games was fairly even without any blow outs at least at my kids age group. I didnt look at the regular showcase games scores. But if the teams are random it would make sense that there are a few blow outs. BTW this is how EVERY league works it's nothing specific to GA. As a "coach/director" you should know all this. Reguarding the ball bounce comment both teams play on the same field. I guess you could be playing at the ECNL KC event where the fields are frozen solid which would allow the ball to bounce 2x higher. |
