As a coach/director my take on this is: GA level ranges too wide. There are some truly horrible teams in the GA, rec-level IMO. The top level teams are athletic but the soccer is crap. It's hard for any college coach to come and watch anything because the ball is just bouncing all over the place and getting kicked everywhere. I imagine GA has a 5-7 year plan on building the platform as a college recruiting league so they are going to have to purge a lot of teams out soon.
Such BS + an obvious ECNL parent. The GA event was Champions Cup teams who where the top of their leagues playing against each other and other invited teams playing against each other. Recruiters tended to stay near the Champions Cup games but Im sure they walked over to regular showcase games if there was a player they wanted to look at. The scores for Champions Cup games was fairly even without any blow outs at least at my kids age group. I didnt look at the regular showcase games scores. But if the teams are random it would make sense that there are a few blow outs. BTW this is how EVERY league works it's nothing specific to GA. As a "coach/director" you should know all this. Reguarding the ball bounce comment both teams play on the same field. I guess you could be playing at the ECNL KC event where the fields are frozen solid which would allow the ball to bounce 2x higher.
