One of my Gen X aunts did work with 5 kids because she and uncle were both teachers and couldn't do on just one income. They were in a school which had two shifts, one did morning, other afternoon and shared responsibilities at home as well. They did end up divorced though but marriage lasted 15 years.

The issue is with your son. It's a flaw that he's attracted to a fully grown adult who has no interests of her own and is happy to leech off of others
Nothing you can do about it though.
