Got into T10 with what grade? |
I don't believe this. At my kid's Big school 20% of the class had a 3.9+ each of the past 2 years. |
your school sends middle of the pack kids to Cornell and Emory RD? So they're literally sending 3.5 kids to these schools? |
it doesnt matter. if she says it's top half of class, it is. at our private (top 30 from that list), 3.7 is top half |
NYC school? Cornell gets a lot harder OOS. |
our TT college counselor has a way of wanting to put the non-VIP kids into Chicago and clear the paths for VIP kids for other schools. I would NOT assume it's with this kids best interest at heart |
I wrote that. Only 5-6 kids got 3.9+ each year at our school. If you have an 3.9, you will get into HYP. 3.85 + 1550 will get you at least Cornell |

Diff poster. 3.8uw/1500 gets you into Cornell at our non-DMV private. Have to show huge fit to school/major though and a lot of ppl don’t do the work. |
Nope. Cornell is actively recruiting outside the NYC bubble. Big college road shows etc. |
is this a Big3 DC school that only has 5-6 kids with a 3.9? STA and NCS both have top 20% at that level (although STA records GPA as a percentage it is equal to a 3.9). Is it Sidwell that has grade deflation to that degree? |
No not in DC. Our school is one of the top 20 in the list another poster linked above |
ah, that makes more sense! what you posted doesn't jive with the grading at top privates around here. There is deflation for sure (generally no 4.0 grads, average GPA of around 3.6) but not to the degree of your posts. |
What stats do you need from the DC top privates to get into Brown? |
At my senior's school the only admits in 4 years have been 3.9+. |
