Yes it is happening. There's a ton of evidence that there is racial profiling going on with the ICE raids. Court Orders Against Profiling: A federal judge issued a restraining order in July barring ICE from conducting immigration arrests based solely on race, ethnicity, language, or occupation. This was in response to allegations that agents were targeting brown-skinned, Spanish-speaking individuals without reasonable suspicion. Trojan Horse Raids in L.A.: Despite the court order, ICE agents conducted raids using rented trucks to lure day laborers at Home Depot locations. The agents spoke Spanish to attract workers, then arrested 16 people, mostly street vendors and laborers. Local officials, including L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, described the operation as the “essence of racial profiling”. Supreme Court Appeal: The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to overturn the profiling ban, arguing that factors like speaking Spanish or working in construction can reasonably raise suspicion of undocumented status. Critics say this logic institutionalizes racial profiling. Impact on U.S. Citizens: Reports show that even American citizens, including Native Americans and Puerto Ricans have been detained or questioned during these raids, raising further concerns about profiling based on appearance or language. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/essence-of-racial-profiling-ice-s-la-rental-truck-raid-may-have-violated-court-orders/ar-AA1KaG7T https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/la-home-depot-raided-twice-in-one-day-critics-claim-immigration-agents-are-flouting-a-court-order/ar-AA1KbRE4 https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ice-agents-mount-trojan-horse-immigration-raid-in-la-in-defiance-of-court-order/ar-AA1K4GWJ https://www.msnbc.com/top-stories/latest/immigration-raid-los-angeles-home-depot-trump-deportations-rcna223883 https://newrepublic.com/post/198933/ice-supreme-court-racial-profiling-trump https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/trump-immigration-raids-citizens-profiling-accusations-native-american-rcna189203 So yes, it is happening and there's a ton of evidence proving it. |
Can you acknowledge that your original argument, that people are being arrested for not being white, is completely inaccurate? Of course profiling occurs. That is not the same thing as people being arrested FOR being non-white. |
This IS happening. And ICE and the rest of the stormtroopers are proud of what they are doing. |
I'm the OP about that. What the F is the differnece? I don't want to live in a country that has police check points and people with brown skin are being terrorize and Yes, pulled over then pull out of their cars because ICE needs to hit Steven Miller's quota. Remember when Trump was going to go after the Bad Hombres? Wouldn't that call for a more strategic approach? Right now it's smash and grab as many brown people as they can. |
To me, there's a massive difference between arresting people for crimes and arresting people for skin color. I think most people see it that way, and support law enforcement when they arrest criminals. |
Small offenses compound into bigger ones. This has become an exacerbating issue due to the first and this administration has effectively decided a stringent enforcement of the law is necessary. Your status as a do-gooder is immaterial. The onus is now on every immigrant to be sure they have the proper paperwork to remain here. |
They are arresting brown people en masse. They are calling them "criminals" because they have overstayed their visa, which is not a "crime." |
This is all distortion and hyperbole. You have no idea what you're talking about. Had you embraced small government, you would have been able to have your agendas without qualms or pushback from "MAGA". |
And I'm tired of pretending otherwise. |
Immigrants can't have proper paperwork because the courts are so backed up. Biden's immigration bill would have addressed this. But MAGA doesn't want people to have proper paperwork. GOP broke the system then blame the immigrants. And yes, I know Dems have done a poor job on immigration. |
You're either misreading or moving the goalposts. You're acting like we said people are being arrested for merely being nonwhite. Nobody ever said that. We've consistently said they are being targeted for being nonwhite. That's not the same as being arrested. And in fact many nonwhite US citizens and people here on legal visa or greencard status have been targeted and harassed without bonafide probable cause other than the color of their skin. A much smaller subset of the people of color who've been targeted and harrassed have, however nonetheless still been arrested and detained, merely because the ICE officers didn't want to believe the data or credentials they were shown indicating they did not have cause to arrest or detain them. |
Some of you just hyperlinked stories of White New Zealanders, Canadians, Germans, and Austrailians getting detained and deported. I'm not sure how you're keeping your narrative straight. |
No, they're not. Overstaying your visa is a civil violation and working or living without authorization, using fraudulent documents, re-entering illegally, are all criminal offenses and illegal activity, ipso facto, a crime. |
We're tired of you as well. |
