I work in a hospital lab. The scientists make around 40 per hour with 2 dollars extra for night shift. Now, obviously 2 dollars is not enough. So day shift is staffed by Americans and night shift is 100% h1b.
I wouldn't call this a true worker shortage.

If it weren't for Donald Trump I would have never known how perverse the Technocrats are. I had literally no idea I was interviewing for jobs that were being staffed by H-1b and they were trying to prove I didn't have the skills, just for giggles. I had no idea they are putting up these odd little posting everywhere and oops dropping my text messages because they wanted to hire the green card. Or worse, making the jobs so unappealing night shifts and what not, travel etc. for no other reason than to dissuade me from interviewing.

The H1B issue is a very real problem, not an abstract intellectual topic of conversation. Highly intelligent, well educated, extremely competent Americans are losing their jobs to immigrant H1B and other visa holders. The causes have been carefully explained upthread.

This ought to be of upmost concern for all Americans. So far it has affected primarily the high tech sector, but I'm learning from this thread it's affected the health care sector as well. Which other highly educated Americans will be displaced by immigrant labor if Americans don't demand the curtailing of these outrageous programs?

Let me explain why Trump gets the benefit of the doubt. People may call it a cult, but it's just that I wouldn't have even been aware of the issue had Trump and his DOJ not started prosecuting the issue. I didn't go into tech to be an expert on immigration and all the jargon LCA, PERM. I had no idea this was going on. He gets credit for doing the right thing when other people were calling him a racist bigot. The people calling him the racist bigot were the ones doing the secret searches by the way.

? You're definitely a cult member. I've been in tech for a while in silicon valley, and there are definitely some weird tech bros. No one who has been in tech for a while is unaware of H1s.

Half the people in Silicon Valley are on h-1b. You're garden variety peson from the Midwest isn't aware of it.

H1s are everywhere, even in the midwest. The ^PP cult member stated that they are in tech, so they aren't the "garden variety midwesterner".

So, either the ^PP is ignorant or lying about being in tech.

H1Bs are especially present in flyover country where companies need those skills and the general population doesn’t have them.

You just can't explain why companies in Silicon Valley need them.

Of course I can. They fill important employment gaps and corporations want them.

They keep wages low and create an indentured class
