Fascinating how drivers are required to protect their kids in car seats until they’re like 12 years old (which is a little overboard but on balance probably fine) while cyclists can do basically whatever with a kid on board who has essentially zero protection if an accident happens.

What you call “doing whatever” is actually parents protecting their kids by prioritizing safety over traffic laws that were designed for cars.
