Results are posted on NVSL site now. Strong showing by Fox Hunt, the only team outside of D1/2 with 100+ points. |
At the end of 10 events, the score was:
OKM - 268 CB - 268 T - 250 O - 240 Neither OKM nor CB had a team in the 15-18 boys medley, so T and O would have picked up points. On the flip side, T did not have a relay in the 15-18 girls medley. CB and OKM were virtually the same seed time (ranked 2nd and 3rd) for the 15-18 girls medley, so —— in essence —- whichever team’s 15-18 girls relay won between OKM and CB would have won the meet (assuming that’s where NVSL stopped the meet). |
I was somewhat surprised when I tuned into the live feed to see they hadn’t started yet. That was probably just short of 4:10. |
Edited OKM & CB scores above |
But please don’t think that OKM is hyper competitive like Chesterbrook or Tuckahoe? What if the meet ended after 8 and under boys free? What if it ended after 9-10 girls free again? So stupid to be doing “what ifs” and no one won this year so calm the heck down. |
Why did NVSL post point if they announce no winner since they did not complete 12 events?
Points should no go in standings as that benefits teams who had kid who got to swim. |
Woah, triggered much? Okay, I can do that for you: Same scenario. CB and OKM were seeded back to back in all of the races you asked about. Winner takes all. |
And if we finished the whole meet, no doubt Tuckahoe would have won. They have super strong free relays. |
Good grief guys, there was no end result. There is no point to do what ifs. There could have been early take offs or other DQs in the 15-18 or beyond if it made it to free.
We didn’t get there with an end result. It’s okay, move on. Hopefully the reps and NVSL can do a rule change for next year to start the meet earlier, then we can get through all of the events to have a winner that takes in account all of the relays, but just some of them. |
How exactly does it benefit teams? It's not like ASR points are a tiebreaker if two teams in the same division are 4-1 or something. They'd be co-champions. It's a paper trophy for fans to talk about on message boards. Though I suspect seeding committee will consider those results too, whether they were posted or not. |
Overlee had the fastest mixed age relay which clearly signifies they have the best overall relay team. |
I believe a rule change isn’t needed. |
The mixed age is one fast kid from each age group. How does that signify they have the best overall relay team? Also looks like the result was pretty close. Who trolls like this?! |
Lighten up, Francis; it's all friendly banter. Any of the top 4 teams could have won the trophy depending on where the meet ended. |
Totally. Just another shining example of the unneeded drama/antics of summer league swim and why so many people fail to understand there is so much more to the sport than swimming 25s and 50s. |
