I am confused. I thought the screenings were going to be happening on a rotating basis, but it seems that some schools are now doing it every day.
How is this possible and how and why was this decisions made? |
Agreed. It’s a real and serious problem and it’s not being acknowledged or addressed. |
I used to staff FCPS school clinics and had to contend with constant requests to use the bathroom and often a line of MS/HS students waiting. Problematic because most schools have one bathroom in the clinic that is reserved for sick students.
Often I’d anger students when I’d have to close the bathroom while awaiting custodian clean up - or if I needed to use the bathroom! |
Doesn't a traffic accident with no traffic cop available seem a lot more likely and dangerous than erratically manned metal detectors? |
This....and our principal made it see like this was the plan all along it wasn't. Do they have some type of extreme threat they are worried about-it was weird and haphazardly done in true FCPS fashion. |
I agree it's an issue but they aren't going to have random parents standing at bathrooms-not going to happen. It has to be schools staff and they don't want or have the time to do it. |
+1. This is sick. |
+1. Same. |
Why are kids getting tardies for being delayed by the metal detector line? My kid rides the BUS and has no control over any of this, and he is getting dinged every day. (Except yesterday, because no one shoots up a school when its raining) |
I’d take this up with the AP in charge of attendance. Send a screenshot of tardies and email that these are due to new security measures and will be ignored by you and that your student will not face disciplinary action. My DC was tardy so often to first period class that ended up getting in school suspension that I fully supported, BTW. Just saying I believe in making the punishment fit the crime. |
Same for our DD. I spoke with the school and they said don't worry it's all excused but I'm about to check SIS and make sure. We have gotten many calls and emails one where she was marked absent by a sub in first period. It's ridiculous. |
