Who is "they"? This thread is about a specific student. The op-ed that got her in trouble discussed Tufts university policies, not US foreign policy. Have you read the op-ed? Here it is so you came make your own judgement rather than relying on right-wing news sources to interpret events for you. https://www.tuftsdaily.com/article/2024/03/4ftk27sm6jkj |
The best part of this immigration roundup (and, really, the most astonishing, hypocritical part after watching Rubio’s rant about conduct) is who they HAVEN’T gone after … remember the wannabe MMA fighters from the SFV and the sloppy teenager squatting rent-free in a Beverly Hills apartment, all of whom are here in the U.S. illegally and all of whom committed outrageous terrorist acts on the UCLA campus last spring?
Nah … no problem with allowing those terrorists to continue walking our streets. Lol |
My DC did while on a UK student visa. |
Entitled child |
Entitled by the UK government to have a voice and an opinion. Seems like something we used to have as well. |
When I was in college abroad my friends from the dorm were going to try to disrupt a fox hunt. It was a regular protest thing in the UK at the time. I didn't go for some reason but didn't hesitate thinking I would be in any more trouble than the UK kids if I did. It's inhumane and I'm an animal lover, why wouldn't I protest? |
Who’s protesting the US government? The Turkish student who is the subject of this thread was protesting university policy; others targeted by the Trump administration were protesting, Israeli government policy. |
+1. My daughter is studying in the UK. If she publishes an article on the school newspaper critical of the UK support for whatever country, do you think it would be normal for her to be seized in the street my masked men and taken who knows where???? What people here dont understand is that what happening to these students now will happen to them in the future, when they protest the government actions they dont agree with and they are taken away. My grandparents were young adults under Mussolini, I heard their stories growing up. |
Because you are a guest of that country, and there by their grace. You are not entitled to be in their country. |
Grow up That's not how it works here We remember Not all of us are FOX News zombies |
The op ed wasn't about the government, it was about Tufts University's response to a student Senate resolution. Period. Khashoggi wrote columns critical of the Saudi government while he lived in the US. He was not a citizen, he had a green card. Trump certainly favored the Saudi government. Should Khashoggi have been scooped up off the street and deported because he wrote columns critical of a country with which the US has friendly relations? |
If we are curtailing political speech by foreigners, how about not having a Nazi salute at the inauguration?
The hypocrisy is astounding. This is the most egregious display of authoritarianism by Trump regime to date. And he is still actively working on sanctioning, dismantling the law firms who dare represent his enemies. That way there will be no one to stop him when he is clearly breaking the law. |
And don’t forget another indication of Trump’s authoritarianism: the fact that a foreign researcher who was coming to the US to attend a conference was turned back when his phone was searched and comment critical of Trump were found on it. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/19/trump-musk-french-scientist-detained |
Maybe Greenland can make JD et al disappear when he opens his mouth about how horrible Denmark is. |
Anti-semitism is a crime. Am I wrong about this? |
