Interesting. I thought W&M and Dickinson had similar acceptance rates around 35%.

WF: 1450 (50% submitting scores)
W&M: 1470 (60% submitting scores)
Tulane: 1450 (45% submitting scores)
BU: 1450 (40% submitting scores)
BC: 1470 (50% submitting scores)

Dickinson: 1360 (25% submitting scores)
Pepperdine: 1360 (21% submitting scores)

Seems like Dickinson is closer to Pepperdine in terms of stats and could be easier to get into.

Dickinson is basically “test blind.” They stopped requiring scores before the pandemic, and unlike most schools, list test scores as “considered” in the CDS. William and Mary lists them as “very important” in their CDS.

And both are resoundingly boring and basic

Oh, the irony of a troll commenting on being basic. Pick me, much?

I’d love to know more about your kid. Mine has similar interests. Can you share how much merit he was offered at each of the schools? What do you think about his app got such great results? And finally, how does he like Harvey Mudd?

Sorry for replying as Anonymous. I meant it to be Anonymous earlier, but I forgot to log out.

We applied everywhere, seeking financial aid. However, Michigan's Engineering Scholarship was a very big surprise since we are OOS. For Harvey Mudd, he received the Harvey S Mudd merit award. As we all know, the application process is really arbitrary. My DS is an Asian male with high stats, NMSF, awards, leadership positions, etc., which we hear of so many applicants from this demographic. So, he knew his overall application needed to be strong and really worked on the essays. Putting forward a very strong application was in our hands, and so we did that. He received mixed results, and he is blessed that he landed in one of his top choices.

Can you explain how? It seems like you can’t choose between big rigorous hard colleges and easy liberal arts schools. They have nothing in common

Thanks for the info! Glad to hear your kid likes Harvey Mudd. We haven’t visited yet, so if we get good news we’ll have to make a trip. Cal Tech was too small for my kid. I’m curious how much Michigan Eng offers for a merit scholarship as it doesn’t seem published anywhere.

When you tour make sure to tour ALL the colleges. There’s surprisingly a lot to see

I hope you get good news. Yes, please do visit, and they will show you all the 5C colleges. DS got the Engineering Scholarship ($100k total for 4 years) from Michigan Engineering. You are right that they don't give scholarships at all for OOS. I think very few admitted students get that. All the best to your DC.

Are you saying your child did not apply to any school lower than UVA? Ballsy

He had 1600 SAT and 3.92 UW GPA and pretty good ECs.

Where did he get in?

Accepted ED at Yale. Everything else is RD.

that's odd because Yale doesn't have ED
