Believe me, you interact with Trump voters you just don’t know it.

There are more than you think, unfortunately. How are they going to change their minds, with over a month left?

This is exactly why Republicans never out themselves to you bullies. I don't want or need you to have "a conversation" with me.

+1.

There is no acceptable level of Republicanism for democrats today. They all believe that if you aren't a democrat you are a nazi. That is why its pointless speaking with them. It's a also a huge reason so many people vote for Trump. It is to spite them.

That's not true but, let's not the truth get in the way.

These threads are so obviously meant to pick fights. Liberals really can't stand it when people don't do as their told and have different opinions. It's maddening to them, so they act out by picking fights.

And Trump/Republicans are so much more tolerant? That's a good one!

And MAGA people want to connect and understand Democrats and Liberals? Lol. No thet just want to pick fights and insist that evertone should think like they do.

Plus, they want to take away my rights. And not feel safe

I don't see any "MAGA" people starting idiotic threads like this, do you?

I agree it is a stupid thread but, you didn't address my concerns. Typical Trump supporter. Deflect and evade.

They're lying. Depending on the poll between 80 and 90% of Republicans approve of Trump.

It's not inconceivable that the DC-area has a very high %age of the 20% that don't approve of Trump. I wouldn't expect that 20% to be spread evenly across the US.

Then I’m spending my day at various youth sports.

My (shelter) dogs are driving me nuts because I worked too late this week and the weather was bad, so I am hoping I can take them to the dog park today while it’s sunny.

We will get take out (probably Indian) and watch a documentary on Netflix tonight (this is why the dog park is super critical).

Tomorrow, we’ll go to our Episcopal church, and brunch. My son wants to go thrifting, and then we have symphony tickets.

So come on out to Alexandria, and join the fun!

Okay but you realize you aren't what most of us think of as normal republicans.
Are you voting for Trump but also pro environment and pro homeless people?

Just drive to a rural area and you’ll find plenty of republicans

I’m independent not Republican. I’m voting for Trump. I live in MoCo (and not far out like Poolsville or Damascus).

I do try to avoid Takoma Park unless specifically visiting friends though. Some very weird/unbalanced people there.

I live in Takoma Park, and I have only ever lived in blue states or Europe.
The most conservative members of my family are now never-Trump/Lincoln Project type Republicans, all the rest are Democrats. I have two Republican friends here and they both hate Trump.

I'm sure I could crash a Young Republicans meetup, but I'm not looking for a strictly political setting. I want to just see how people who think way differently from me live their lives as normal people and understand why they think the way they do. I'm not religious so it's not like I'm going to sit in an evangelical church just for this purpose. And I'm not trying to do so as some weird social experiment and write a thinkpiece about it. I just want to meet people and understand them. Where would I go that is most likely to have Trump/new right/populist conservatives just existing in their own lives? Other than stereotypical things like a gun club. Maybe some kind of small town event far enough outside the DC suburbs?

OP, you can start by not thinking of us as odd zoo specimens that are so different from you.

Guess what. I live in Takoma Park. And I'm voting for Trump, as is my spouse, as we both did in 2020 AND 2016.

I'm your neighbor! Surprise!

It's interesting to watch results election night to see the % of folks in DC (not MoCo or Nova) voting Republican. Who are those people?

You are soooo spay-shul.

I get this at work a lot. People assume because it's DC and I go along with it because I don't want to experience prejudice professionally by a coworker or supervisor. It isn't their business really.

Keep in mind there are a lot of people who would not chose Trump as their first choice Republican but are also not “never Trumpers” and will ultimately vote for him, not so much because they like him but because his presence will maybe result in some policies they think are OK but even more importantly will block policies they don’t agree with. Basically, he’s not my guy but will keep the woke out of power so I’m ok with it.

I am “quiet” not because I’m hiding anything but because he’s not really my guy, he’s just the lesser of two evils.

You can think whatever you want, you’re not my friend and I don’t know you so whatever. There’s literally no point in us arguing.

I heard an interesting interview on npr yesterday with a young male republican nj commissioner, he pointed out that in his experience, republican policy helps his local government. I’m a staunch dem but I heard this guy, and I get his point - federal level is one thing, local may play out differently. Federal policy is slow, local can be lightning fast.
