Hoda Stepping Back from the Today Show

Me too, but I’m 49. How old are you? The under 30 crowd is not watching and they are not likely to start. This is not my opinion, you can look into demographics of these things. Advertisers are not going for the under 30 crowd on the morning shows.

That is an amazing salary, especially for someone who went into journalism. But the days of these people making $20 million a year are over.

It’s just not that valuable of a franchise anymore given how streaming is taking over and how people get their news.

And I’m someone who regularly watches the today show and really enjoys it as part of my routine. But I recognize I’m in the minority.

I love the Today Show. 17 minutes of "hard" news at the 7:00 hour, including 2-3 minutes of politics (keeps me aware without making me angry) and then consumer, cooking and entertainment segments. And this current group of hosts gets along well with each other and clearly enjoys their work, which starts my day off on a positive note. YMMV.

ME!

I work from home most days and just have it on. And skim through it. Like a PP said, it’s a few minutes of news, sometimes a celeb is is on that I like, but rarely, and then some sort of fitness or cooking or shopping segment and I like the celebrity “popstart” segment.

It’s just like comfort food.

I turn on the local news while eating breakfast, and the Today show comes on afterwards. It's all usually just background noise unless they say something that catches my attention. It's not always the Today show; it depends on which network the TV happens to be on when I turn it on. We use an antenna for network TV.

I don't watch, but saw a clip of Scarlett Johansson (sp) hosting with Jenna Bush and she was great!

The Today Show 4th hour with Hoda & Jenna is what made me really start liking Jenna Bush Hagar. I wasn't a fan before or excited when it was announced she'd replace Kathie Lee, who I could NOT stand at all for more than 10-15 mins.

I'm not a ScarJo fan but found myself liking her the past few mornings when she was on with Jenna.
