Rejected by Dartmouth but admitted into Yale, Princeton, Brown, UPenn, Cornell, Duke, and UCLA???

Well that's the thing. They don't know that.

What if Dartmouth had a better FA package? Not everyone is a DCUM. Desperate people will adapt to the environment. A kid from poverty will accept a better FA package from Dartmouth even if they have an acceptance from Harvard. Who cares if the two are different. People are trying to get decent jobs. So that's why I say it is discriminatory.
Dartmouth does not give better aid than other Ivies

The same person was rejected by Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia. Is Dartmouth trying to say it is on par with these other schools? LMAO.

Surely someone admitted into Yale and Princeton should be able to get into Dartmouth easily.

Dartmouth is literally not even in the top 100 best schools like seriously.

Kudos to those that actually tried to provide a thoughtful answer, but I do wonder if threads like this are created for 'fun'. "Let me say something provocative and watch what happens..."

"Is Dartmouth trying to say it is on par with these other schools? LMAO." Uh...ok

I just thought I would find like-minded people here about Dartmouth. Seems I was wrong.

I don't think this school is on par with Harvard, Yale, Princeton or Columbia. Or Stanford. I think people admitted into these schools should have a pretty easy time getting into schools like Dartmouth. Even though it is ivy too. Makes me wonder who even got into Dartmouth if not a student who could get into Yale.
I don't either, but that doesn't mean it has to accept everyone who gets in to a better school. Brad Pitt is more desirable than me as a partner, but that doesn't mean I have to agree to date anyone he would date.

Every school is composing an incomng class. They consider multiple factors besides GPA and SAT scores.

For selective admits, there are never any guarantees .

(None of this should be news to OP)

Okay, but explain the logic of a Princeton admit not getting into Dartmouth which isn't a better school that Princeton and Yale! It makes no sense! What is up with this school?

(Forget about sales tax for a minute.) If you have $100, you can buy something that costs $100, $90, $86, $73, and so on, down to 1-cent.

College admissions isn’t like that.

It’s more akin to football, where a player might be a superstar in high school, merely good in college, & back up to to superstar at the professional level (check out the career of Tom Brady). Each level has different requirements, just like each college has different criteria.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Pete Davidson had only moderate success with girls in high school. But in the show biz environment he’s hanging out with Kate Beckinsale, Ariana Grande etc. Again, different criteria in different places.

We get it…you have a smart kid.

Nooo. It's not my kid. And it's not just this one kid I know.

I am shocked by kids getting into Princeton/Harvard/Yale and not Dartmouth. Who do they think they are? lmao??

Duke is not ivy league. So obviously not surprising that a student is accepted at Duke and rejected from Dartmouth. Duke is inferior.

An example Dartmouth waitlisted but gets into Princeton??? And Duke??? (not the person I am talking about, just an example I saw)

This is funny after several pages of people saying it's different for everyone.

Question to everyone.

Do you think it is fair to be admitted by HPY. And then be rejected by safe schools?
Anonymous
No college can possibly admit everyone who is qualified to attend.

Is it fair? Now I know this is an idealistic teenager.

Anyone applying to both Dartmouth and UCLA OOS clearly doesn't know what they want. Or is a sad prestige hunter. And that undoubtedly shows up in the application. Dartmouth is a small community and they are going to be particular about who they accept. And it's not going to be the shotgunners.

Why do you say so?

How can colleges tell if someone is a shotgunner? Do they share intel?
