She has acknowledged there are real problems in the system to parents (read what she wrote to the Title I schools) and to MCEA. It’s a shame that staff like Brian Hull are hampering her efforts to do anything about the problems

MCEA is lying to you. Brian Hull is not the problem and has no authority over the superintendent to "hamper her efforts" the things happening are her efforts.

She (like every superintendent) makes ALL of the decisions. And then she blames them on Hull, the easy white man target, so MCEA doesn't get mad at her. It is disgusting what MCEA is doing this is the lowest I've seen them go in years.

She’s agreed to requests from mcea to allow their leadership to be at the table during talks and released information about how money is being spent. She does not want an increase in class size because she knows that will hurt kids. She’s working in partnership with mcea; the first superintendent who has done so in earnest.

So who is making that decision then?

You realize the superintendent is the boss right? And she decides what cuts and budget recommendations to make to the board. So if class sizes were suggested to increase and the board approved it, it's because she made the decision and signed her name on the letter with the recommendation.

Felder is, but collaboration is a GOOD thing. I am glad she is sharing info with the union and obtaining feedback. If only McKnight had done things like this, we would be in a better place.

It’s absolutely correct that she inherited lots of problems. However it’s also absolutely correct and was apparent at the time of her appointment that she lacked the leadership track record to do this job effectively.

So if the rumors that she won't get the job are true, do people think we'll have a permanent superintended in by July 1? Seems more likely we will need another interim for a year.

I think if the person doesn't start on July 1, then there needs to be an interim for a year. So maybe the person agrees to start mid-year as an interim and then will start on July 1, 2025?

In the announcement they made it clear they feel confident about hiring a permanent supe by July 1. But, even in the event that they didn't, also made it clear that a new interim would be named and not that Dr. Felder would continue in her role.
