Is 50+ too old to wear tights / yoga pants out in public?

Too fat is more the issue. If you look good in them, wear them.

This is not even a question in far more fashionable cities than DC including all of the west coast and NY. It is totally fine. Those who dislike it are likely from the south or unfashionable DC. Who cares what they or anyone thinks about wearing atheleisure at any age.

TBH I have never met a truly fashionable person who thinks it is not okay. Quite the opposite. It is more conservative traditionalists who oppose the look.

No, and when are we going to stop with the ageism in fashion?!?!

I wear them all the time, I’m a yoga instructor who teaches in *yoga pants* ten times a week. Sorry, pearl clutchers.

Leggings are not pants. I will die on this hill.

Athleisure is usually signalling either "I give up" comfort wear or virtue signaling/status communication. The richer and thinner the person is, it seems to be intended as a flex. However, it usually just looks like a hot person went shopping in her bra and long underwear. Wearing more clothes actually looks more creative and stylish.

Wtf does that mean?

What fking homecoming are you attending at 55? College? HS? Chastening your kid’s dance? Outfit sounds awful for the occasion even at 20.

Perfectly fine!

There is 50 year old who lives down the street from me, she puts most 25 year olds to shame.

My 75 year old mom wears them, with a tunic top. That combo looks completely normal to me for anyone at any age or size.

If we are talking about leggings with short tops or very tight tops, then I think it's another matter. (But that doesn't seem very comfortable, which just defeats the point of leggings entirely, so who would chose that?)

If you are slim with a nice butt its not an issue. But that holds true for all age groups.

NO, it is fine, OP. I am your age and they fit really good on my ass and sometimes give me a camel toe but I don't mind that.

I wear legging most of the time and I’m glad everyone does now because I have no interest in wearing jeans daily.

Wear them if you want to, it literally doesn’t matter what some rando on the internet thinks you should wear.
