The Washington Post is projecting up to 5 inches in areas.

WTOP is calling for 1-3 inches with areas in Loudoun getting closer to 5 inches. Wind gusts will keep the temperatures below freezing.

The volunteers who run his league have been scrambling all season dealing with closures and reschedules and ref re-staffing and gyms unexpectedly locked etc in addition to all the regular work. It definitely does suck. Its honestly amazing anyone volunteers to run these leagues and deal with FCPS on top of parents.

The last weekend cancellation, we had several parents email our rec league asking if they would receive a partial refund of their registration fee if their game was not rescheduled. Like, they thought it was reasonable for our community league to process $8.00 refunds for every family if we couldn't reschedule. One of those same parents complained again when we rescheduled games for weeknights. We have no space!

Some random parent suggested your org individually refund hundreds of families $8.00 if they only got 7 games instead of 8?

1% of parents cause 95% of the issues.

I used to be an optimist but FCPS turned me into a pessimist. They won't even hold out and see what happens. I bet they cancel by 6 pm tonight.

Agreed! I'm honestly shocked they haven't already cancelled all tonight's events AND tomorrow's... I really hope they wait and see with it tomorrow, we've got 2 make-up bball games tomorrow as it is, and a chorus concert!

Do they do 2-hour delays on Saturdays?

They are so going to cancel. I am really really curious who makes the call, who is really in charge here.. why do "they" wait, who to "they" consult with

Any insight?????

If FCPS cared at all about the kids, they'd wait to see and then and only then, call for a delay.

So ridiculous how they punish kids by shutting everything down.

At this point, I'd be more surprised if they DON'T cancel. Like has that ever happened?

In the early 2000s it was the superintendent of each district who made the ultimate call.

Tonight's! IF it snows, it won't be until like 2 am. Don't give them any ideas!

Yes. Then complained when we scheduled makeup game on a weeknight because they wrote in their registration that Larlo was not available on X night.

We had a school social event (that was a PTO fundraiser) cancelled in March of 2020 due to the pandemic. We are talking under $20 per family. We offered refunds but families had to affirmatively reply that they wanted it. I was shocked how many people took it rather than just give the PTO the $20 - we are a high SES school.

The official answer is that activities before noon are cancelled. Staff just got the email.

You offered it, why wouldn't they take it?

It's on the FCPS website - everything after noon is still on, thankfully.

Why would people just throw away money when they’ve probably already donated to the idiotic PTO anyway?
