The difference is that GA is now at the same level as US Club Soccer. What this means is they no longer have to pay USSSA to register players. This in theory means GA can charge less per player. (Never going to happen) Or they can charge the same but make more money. It also means that GA can register DPL players. Which can either be a passed onto the parents as a cost savings or kept by either GA or DPL. |
Do you really think that they announced that for what you said to happen? Do you really think that their Instagram post has the most like it’s ever gotten 4K because they will have full control? Think about that. Do you really think ECNL parents are fussing about this because all they’re getting is more money? No there is a method behind the madness. |
This isn't about money, it's about control. USSSA and USYS had no self-interest in helping Girls Academy. Now Girls Academy can self-sanction, create GA Rising without anyone standing in their way, and DPL can fall under GA sanctioning. |
I agree with you. Just pointing pointing out the short term benefits of being promoted by US Soccer. ECNL has its foot in the door via US Club Soccer. It's weird that they're not at the same level as MLS NWSL USMNT USWNT USL and now GA. Either people at US Soccer don't like ECNL or US Club Soccer is what ECNL chooses to do because someone likes skimming and is funneling a little into their pocket off the top. |
|
For all you folks that are trashing one or the other, until we get some facts…it is all just a bunch of smoke.
There are no facts or truths to GA clubs leaving for ECNL. No one is able to clearly state what exactly US Soccer will change for GA |
|
Sidenote, you guys know the GA does not own or have an affiliation with DPL right?
|
Correct. But ga teams mostly place their b teams there |
Is that true? https://dpleague.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/GADPL_Dec-1-2020.pdf (Dec 4, 2020). The GA and DPL have created an alliance to forge a pathway to further aid in player and club development. Clubs with teams in both leagues will benefit from an expanded player pool. DPL clubs not yet in the GA will calibrate with GA club standards and ultimately utilize the DPL as a proving ground for potential advancement into the GA. |
It was originally going to occur, and then the GA bailed on it. Like they then went on to do with GA Rising.. seems like an interesting trend. |
This. So silly. |
explain. one is rumors the other no one can explain its significance. |
I heard GA bailed on GA Rising because of issues with USSSA and sanctioning, which is why GA Rising teams ended up folding into DPL in their own conference with GA 2nd teams. I suspect those teams will move to GA Rising (or new name, but same idea) for 2024-25 season. GA teams get 2nd teams out of USYS system and control their own programming. |
I’m willing to bet that is a small chunk of the deal |
| ECNL pulled 3 GA teams for the fall season. It was true all along |
