You and your family were not here in the country in the 90s I imagine, definitely not in the 60s/70s/80s. African Americans are not an immigrant group that for some reason is overrepresented in media, as you put it. We have been here since the foundation of this country, and most modern American music styles are built from the African American tradition. Beyond that, in parts of the 80 and 90s, there were African American global superstars that EVERYONE listened to. I know things have changed between now and then but you should know history. |
