Anyone following the viral Harvard University *Extension School* controversy?

This has nothing to do with her smearing the brand. Nothing.

Don’t shoot the messenger.

Probably teases out his motives. Insecure striver who “only” has a Georgetown degree. An Ivy reject with status envy. So much envy the pathetic buys a Harvard online degree in 2022 while living in million dollar home in Washington state. A wannabe desperate to belong, seething with envy.

Or he’s just not cool with plagiarism? Doesn’t really need to be a deep villain backstory.

He is nothing but a shameless grifter; a hired gun following marching orders.

Shameless grifter is a perfect description of not only Claudine Gay, whom Rufo helped get removed from her totally undeserved position as President of Harvard, but also other race grifters like Ibram Kendi, Robin DeAngelo, etc.

The funniest thing is how utterly arrogant the equity phonies at Harvard sound when they then go after their own extension students as lower life forms.

"Try-hard dork" about sums it up.

If the Ivies are so "rotten," why didn't he get a masters degree from Hillsdale?

This is my favorite tweet on this topic:

We’ve long had questions about whether the value of an elite degree is mainly signaling or mainly acquired human capital.

It’s interesting to see
@Harvard
faculty coming out so strongly in favor of it being mainly signaling.

lol. Do you cringe when she does?

It's a man and yes, all the women that know, including his wife (whi tells people the truth) roll their eyes. It's great. But, really, it plays into his whole personality. He lies about everything to hide his poor roots (I don't think it's shameful, he does).

It's pre existing to Gay by a long time. It was always a stupid idea. As if they need the money.

You don't comprehend there are wide variances of standards, rigor and merit between degree programs at the same university? You right wingers routinely make fun of humanities degrees for being so easy they're worthless, while a STEM bachelor's at the same university are much more intense, of course. Or a public policy master's from Kennedy School at Harvard is obviously far easier to get into and far easier to finish than a four-year MD program at Harvard Medical School. Rufo sought a shortcut degree from the easiest department at Harvard, the open enrollment extension school. $40,000 to buy a "Master of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies" online degree. Then he purposely misinterpreted the degree to confer the prestige, status, and accomplishment the much more selective and rigorous programs project. It's akin to stolen valor. Guy is a clown.

We’re talking about institutions that prioritize lacrosse and rowing ability over SAT scores so yes, elite universities may be more about class preservation than education.

Anyone using “dork” to insult others is a try hard by definition.

This whole story is so ridiculous it hurts. Pot meeting kettle and all.
I just hope there are fewer applicants to Harvard in the future so that normal people finally get accepted. And there is less politics around who is president.

It’s still a Harvard degree. But make no bones about it — it’s not Harvard College. You can’t even transfer INTO Harvard College from HES.

And yet the lowly HES guy was able to do what the Harvard College folks either were unable to do or were incurious about. Either way, kudos to him and shame on them.

I think the irony here is that he couldn't care any less about prestige. Just wants to make a difference and is doing so. Also, he has become a household name almost overnight.

He isn’t a household name. He has been mildly notorious in some circles for a few years now, ever since his disingenuous claims about CRT. Racist scum does tend to stand out.

+1 That's brilliant.

This is true. So why did this Rufo guy pay them $40,000 for an online one and then try to frame it in bios like he has a selective Ivy degree? It's so pathetic. Selling himself as a bonafide Harvard Man when he spent maybe all of two weeks on campus for the one required in-person course? I'm getting second-hand cringe.

Oh my gosh, are you not paying attention. Literally everyone is talking about him on X and forums like this. He is featured on the news. Heck, we are talking about him right now! He’s loving this rest assured.

And the conversation is currently whether or not his Harvard degree needs the worded with extension, which hits the subconscious as a huge guess what he attended Harvard in a capacity. It will become murky, and all people will remember is that he had gone to Harvard. Without this “scandal” no one knew who he was, and no one knew that he attended Georgetown and Harvard.
