Nothing infuriates me more than hearing about "rape" and "torture" by Hamas when that behavior is the very reason Israel exists. How do you think a Hamas even comes about? Because Igrun, Lehi, Stern Gang and Hagana existed LONG BEFORE Oct 7. You can watch documentaries on YT of old Zionist Jews laughing about raping Palestinian teens and burning them alive. That's what college kids are learning. They're learning this conflict ISN'T complicated, it's that their parents and grandparents have been fed the same tired lies about Israel "defending" itself for decades. And while the older, ignorant, buffoonish generations repeat the lies about "Palestinians turning down peace deals," the younger, so-called "brain-washed" generation very quickly learn the actual DETAILS of those supposed "deals."

Aside from your inability to use paragraphs or write coherently, your overt ageism makes you sound flat-out idiotic.

I think the worst thing about our Gen Z guest's rambling post is the contention that social media offers access to reliable "access to actual history within seconds". No wonder he/she believes "this conflict isn't complicated"!! Our society has clearly failed this whole generation's education.

I think the worst thing is that you actually didn’t understand the post. Gen Z isn’t getting their information from social media. The college students are reading up on history as it actually played out and making up their own minds. You tube videos showing actual video coverage of IDF soldiers mocking Palestinians isn’t ‘social media’. It’s actually evidence of what has been taking place in that region.

And to the PP, it’s so sad that instead of acknowledging the facts mentioned in the post, you resorted to a cheap attack on the usage of paragraphs. That actually makes you a flat out imbecile filled with hatred and contempt for the Palestinians. You just don’t want to acknowledge their humanity and are willing to keep your eyes and ears closed till you die.

You talk about YouTube.

I made the terrible mistake of watching the Hamas GoPro footage that they shared on social media.

I have seen Hamas behead innocent people with shovels.

I have seen them murder children.

I have seen piles and piles of mutilated young people

Go ahead and read the BBC article about the rape victims. None lived of course

All you Hamas supporters are vile people.

Go ahead and watch the videos coming out of Gaza of children covered in white phosphorus and babies left to die in hospitals. Two can play this game. In your view only one side deserves the sympathy. In my view any loss of innocent life is wrong and so far in this country, a Palestinian child has been murdered and three Palestinians boys were brutally shot at. So tell me are you not concerned about the anti Palestinians rhetoric that is causing people to commit such heinous crimes or does your humanity start and end with Israel and are you ONLY concerned with anti semitism?

NP. Any loss of life is tragic, any act of hate and murder is vile. The boy was Jordanian according to his father. No indication that the case of 3 students was motivated by hate. Shooting outside of a synagogue in Albany today. A pro Israel protester killed in Ca. 2 can play this game, no need to go over who has it worse. This is a thread about college presidents testifying in front of the confessional committee. Try to stay focused.

Interesting tidbit about the shooting of the three Palestinian men. The shooter actually showed pro Palestinian views on his social media. The place where the three Palestinian men were walking were near a synagogue and it’s not a far fetched notion that a mentally ill man could not differentiate between Hebrew and Arabic. Highly ironic if he shot those three because he thought they were JEWISH.

For example: the US dropped on average SEVENTY TWO bombs per DAY in 2016, equalling 26,171 that year alone in total on Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan. 22,110 in 2015. And the death toll in the middle east from post 9/11 conflict is at least half a million civilians directly killed by US airstrikes or military and around 4.5m who died overall for adjacent reasons. Where was the widespread internal outrage then? Where were the giant protests on campus against Obama (who I voted for)?
There is objectively a far far far higher rate of outrage directed at Israel than there is for other scenarios with far higher death tolls, and anyone who claims racism is not at play is either lying to us or lying to themselves.

It’s the “Holy Land” which people disproportionately care about. People are more informed about Jews and Israel because the Holocaust was a European history thing that everyone knows about and everyone also knows about the subsequent creation of Israel. There are explanations for disproportionate interest that are not anti-Semitism.

really dont think gen z are so fired up bc of concern for 'holy land'
they are fired up bc they are falling for the same trope that lead to the holocaust. Assumption that jews are rich and powerful and crushing the poor man.
I am NOT saying that no one should call for a ceasefire or have sympathy for the poor palestinians. We should. But so much of the rhetoric around occupation and apartheid and civilian deaths etc is outrage that you would NOT see directed at any given african country slaughtering a racial cohort in a neighboring african country en masse.

EXACTLY this. And where were all these rabid protesters during the genocide of Uyghurs? Nowhere to be found. How interesting.

Good riddance to him. Since 10/7 Jewish donors have been flexing and threatening donations to politicians and universities, America is not owned by a select few fund managers just because they have big money, I have the whole thing utterly distasteful and disgusting . Let your morals and actions talk for you, not your money.

Wow, PP. That you don't see how antisemitic *your* comment is is really disturbing. You're about a half step from Jewish space lasers.

Where was the antisemitism there? Dude is indeed a fund manager and maybe a university shouldn’t decide what’s right based on what wealthy donors dictate? Jewish publication recently had an article about how Qatar is “buying the Ivy League.” Is that anti-Arab?

You are complaining that monied Jewish interests are exercising an outsized influence on the American government. You even suggested that they "own" America. It's a miracle you didn't mention the Rothschilds by name. If you don't see how antisemitic that is, I suggest you read some history. Good lord.

Please explain how to criticize anything a rich Jewish person does without being antisemitic? Like it is possible?

DP. Do you routinely call people "racists" if they criticize a POC? How about "misogynist" if they criticize a woman?

I just don’t find this compelling. People don’t care about Africa… and that’s racist. People do care about Palestine… and that’s also racist. Um okay.

I’m saying people care more about Israel/ Palestine because anti semitism is so rife - than they do about another conflict where both sides are perceived by western countries as ‘the same color’

People are pretty fired up about Ukraine too. That was apparently also racist. Why don’t we care about Syria?! No one is apparently allowed to be outraged unless it’s evenly distributed among current events.

Not remotely: crowd sizes and social chatter much smaller for Ukraine than Gaza.

Any pro-Hamas (aka pro-Palestinian) speech is calling for genocide against the global Jewish population. Period.

U.S. Jews are deeply thankful for the small majority of American politicians, such as Stephanik, Donald Trump, and others who are fighting to protect us from the genocide that we face on a daily basis.

Here’s my two cents:

While all the commentary seems to be along the lines of how “dangerous and toxic college campuses” are, I think it’s something bigger and far more dangerous.

While critics on seemingly fixating on clueless college presidents favoring one group over another in some next-level some exercise, I see fear: not fear of students or campus politics, but fear of a global movement that wields more power than even Congress and the public realize. Fear of a movement fueled by religious extremism. This goes far beyond the twitterverse and court of public opinion.

Intelligent American Jews know that 1) not everything “pro-palestinian” is “pro-Hamas” and 2) Donald Trump has done more to unleash the forces of anti-semitism that threaten the safety of American Jews than any American politician of the last 30 years

1) Show me the residents of Gaza and Palestine praising Israel for defending them against Hamas. Israel could have just nuked Gaza, but at great risk they are fighting street to street, door to door to remove Hamas and protect the innocent Palestinians. Despite this, Palestinians remain loyal to Hamas and refuse to thank Israel for this effort to save them. This, they are Hamas, they are one and the same.

2) Trump was one of the strongest, most pro-Israel presidents ever. He was clearly supportive of Israel’s god given right to exist, recognizing Jerusalem as being a Jewish city, and the Capital of Israel. He further negotiated the Abraham Accords, which were monumental is protecting Israel and Jewish Interests. This is compared to Biden, who has skirted the line of calling for Jewish genocide.

Trump was a dear friend to the Jewish community, and never questioned the needs of Israel, and is Jews will remember that kindness and deep-rooted support when voting in 2024.

And yet Jews were way safer during Trump's presidency. Paradox.
