Without Israel, American Jews are less safe.

You can dislike Israel’s current government. I do too. But having a Jewish state is essential for our safety because it ideally is a haven.

I’d argue that having countries with strong protections for religious/ethnic minority rights is what is actually essential.

After 2,000 years of genocides, Jews aren’t convinced.

Some Jews are. The US experience should convince you.

Why do people feel so empowered to tell Jews what we should feel?

No, I don’t feel safe in the US right now.

Okay, that’s you. Why do people feel so empowered to say things like “Jews aren’t convinced” as if they all agree?

I kinda think I know more Jews than you.

Or do you make it a habit to tell members of minority groups what the sentiment within their group is?

I’m part of a minority group and despise it when people treat us like a monolith. If you’re seriously arguing with a statement that Jews don’t all agree, you’re the one who needs to get out of your bubble.

DP. You're being unnecessarily argumentative. The Jewish poster is telling you how they feel. When you answer with "that is how YOU feel," you are dismissing them as an outlier so naturally they are going to explain that they aren't. It doesn't make any sense to argue with someone about an experience they are having, especially since many gentiles have expressed similar concern for the Jewish community. All this suggests that this poster is not the only Jew in America that is experiencing this and her experience is, in fact, common right now.

The Jewish poster is telling me how “Jews” feel. Yes, it’s common. No, it doesn’t mean that everyone thinks Israel is essential to their safety.

If someone is Jewish and you are not, they know better what many or most Jews think.

Stop arguing and listen more.

You’re insufferable. Do you think this random poster is the first Jew I’ve heard. I read Tablet. I read Haaretz. I have Israeli friends. Please get over yourself with this crap.

Do you tell black people not to fear cops? Even if your black friend isn't afraid of cops?

I feel fine expressing my opinions to everyone, minorities or otherwise.

Leave black people put of this we are not a prop

I’m the direct PP you quoted and I completely agree - the question about black people and cops added nothing to the discussion.

The question was meant to determine if you tell all groups how to feel.

And to analogize Jews to African Americans and what they’ve suffered in this country… which is an inapt comparison and you know it

No. The question was about you and your arrogance.

It’s not arrogant to refuse to treat Jews or any other group like a monolith. And do stop bringing up black people whenever you’re backed into a corner.

If you would’ve told me 4 years ago that evangelical Trump voters would be the biggest ally of our community in 2023 I would’ve called you insane (among other things). And yet here we are.

If this is true for you, you are profoundly ignorant.

Yes the evangelicals have long supported Israel. That is bc they want the rapture. Look it up.

But sure, maybe better than the pro-Hamas freak in the streets currently trying to kill us.

There is still a substantial-ish portion of the US government that is opposed to antisemitism. So things may not get out of hand too quickly. But the events on college campuses and the vicious antisemitism on display should make Jews feel very concerned. At the moment, tgere is no group with greater privilege in this country than the “pro-Palestinian” protester. IF Israel can dismantle Hamas in Gaza, many antisemites will melt away. But we have seen them now.

At this moment, there is no group of people on the planet who are as threatened as the Jews are.

This is not true. Please join me in the real world where pro-Palestinian protesters have bad job offers (I think rightly) revoked by law firms and other corporate jobs after being identified with ridiculous glory-to-martyr-type signs. In the actual world that exists beyond campuses, these people are fringe and shamed, not privileged. The myopic focus on college campuses (and a subset of them at that) is not representative of the environment for Jews in this country, though of course the news coverage seems scary.

Anonymous wrote:For any Jewish posters here, do you think Jewish families will reconsider college choices in near future? Vote differently?

Yes, as for colleges. What went on at Cooper Union was terrifying. Vote differently? Most Jews have liberal values. Jews have reached out so often to others to do good. In the face of the October 7 horror, so many laughed at the Jews or stood mute. Jews will remember this shameful conduct.

Wow. This is insanity.

Very likely someone not even related to the school. Sounds like a very specific threat - bomb or mass shooter. Wouldn’t surprise me if it started on 4chan.

My thoughts exactly.

Hopefully the police (and FBI?) are able to track down these vile people.

Nope.

Would you like links? Google it. This should be good news to you. But seems you’d rather pretend everyone hates Jews.

I hate it when people refuse to accept facts, yes, and just rely on their feels instead.

What happened at Dagestan (sp?) airport could happen here in a few years.
