Just bc you think it does not make it so. |
Spot on. |
I agree with everything PP said. My DD is a senior at BC and has had the same experience. |
+1. DD accepted to several higher ranked schools but chose BC and is very happy there. |
No it is not! As the other PP said the campus straddles Boston/Newton. Half of the campus is in Boston proper. |
My kid is at BC. Has never been to mass there, and perhaps only twice in entire life. Has had no religious education, no first communion or confirmation, went to a secular school prior to BC. Loves BC. |

People always seem to have trouble grasping things about BC. Perhaps because there aren’t clear-cut answers to questions about it.
Yes, part of it is in Boston, but part of isn’t. Yes, there are lots of Catholics there, and you have to take a couple theology classes, but nobody is going to force you to go to church or suggest you convert to Catholicism. Yes, it’s got good academics, but it’s not going going to be a brutal 4 years where you can’t have a social life. Yes, the atmosphere is suburban, but the city stuff is “right there.” |
NP here. Will these Google Reliant posters EVER stop. Get OUT of your bubble and SEE campuses. There is a life outside your teeny, tiny, world! |
Pretty good summary. Is isn't at all hard to get into Boston from the main campus unless you are really lazy. Definitely not forcing anyone to go to church, but the BC church is unlike any other Catholic Church I've attended. BC kids seem to have a great social life, especially in just off campus houses. I called the cops on them so many times when I lived near them! |

“while it may be TO, most students submit test scores”
30% submitted SAT last year |
Agree with most of this post. Just wanted to point out that the theology class requirement is met by most students doing the PULSE program - community service of their choosing in the Boston area. |
Per 2022-23 CDS, freshmen fall 2022, 34% submitted SAT, 18% submitted ACT. Max 52% submitted scores, depending on the amount of overlap. |
Academically average kids? Are you drunk? |
Solid school with solid placements. One of the best core curricula in the country. Amazing campus, facilities, and school spirit. better Jesuit vibes/ less politics than Georgetown. Also, theology is stronger at BC. I transferred to BC after spending a year at Georgetown. |
Why are you bumping an old thread? |
