Why should I be forced to send my kids to private schools when I pay taxes to support public schools? Are you advocating for vouchers now? |
No one is forcing you to private either. It’s your choice. And your wallet. |
You can opt-out, you know? Ignorance spawns ignorance. |
Yes, they know more about education and child development than the RWNJs parents screaming their ignorance to all. |
I’m good with that. If parents get to decide then let’s go with covering all of that material. |
Nobody is forcing you to send your child to private school. That would be your choice, if you decided that you wanted your children not to learn about the country's history of systematic racism, not to have access to books with queer characters, and not to be in school buildings that have gender-neutral bathrooms. And let's be clear: whatever you want, it is NOT parents' rights. What you want is for your choices as a parent, for your child, to override other parents' choices for their children. Lots of parents want these things for their children; you don't want these things for your child; therefore, nobody's children should have these things - according to you. |
When you have such contempt for public schools, why would you even want to send your child to public schools? |
Nobody is stopping you from teaching your children about anything you want to teach them about. Do your job as a parent, teach your children, yay. The issue here is that you don't want anybody else to also teach your children. To achieve that goal, your best bet is home-schooling. |
Agree with the last poster. We require that Teachers have years of education specifically on how to educate Many even have a masters degree We have parents who know nothing about education who are trying to run our schools. That is not right. That is the tail, wagging the dog. Our schools should be providing a strong, well-rounded education. On all subjects. If you don't want the teachers to teach your sex education, all schools provide an opt out option. If you want your child to learn about Christianity, enroll them in a Christian school. And so on and so forth. The right wing nut jobs are intent on restricting the rights of others. While the left is intent on preserving everybody's rights. |
That’s correct. And my wallet is funding public schools. Therefore, I have a say in how they are administered and curriculum policies |
You have exactly the same say as every other voter. No more, no less. |
That is not true. I want an expert in science to teach my kids science, a language specialist to teach my kid’s Spanish and so on. That is what I am paying for. |
Of course. And when the vast majority of parents feel more or less as I do, you’ll shut up, right? Welcome Governor Glen Youngkin |
"The vast majority of parents" do not feel as you do. Did not in 2021, certainly don't in 2023. |
So ... you want certified professional teachers to teach your kids, because you are not qualified? Yet you're qualified to tell these certified professional teachers what they should and shouldn't teach your kids? Huh. |
