This is where Bullis grads are going to college. Many of the the Colleges are the best in the country/world.

Is Bullis the new Sidwell prestige-wise?

Yes!

Of course.

I’d say the same to any other school that asks too.

Because it’s been so lonely on the top forever

They want to be like GDS, Sidwell, etc. so they give out A’s and AP courses so that kids get into top colleges. I feel really bad for the teachers who have to deal with these average kids. But, feel worse for the kids who will struggle in these colleges. Bring back testing. That will make things right. My kid is a senior at Bullis and got into their ED school so I’m not bitter but just telling the truth. I honestly don’t think my kid would have gotten in without being at Bullis. No test scores submitted.

I really don’t think they do. That’s the whole point of this post. Bullis has surpassed Sidwell at least from a college matriculation perspective.

Bullis hasn’t surpassed Sidwell in anything (unless it’s something negative). The PR piece the Bulllis administration released is a list of college acceptances for a small number of Bullis students.

Exactly! It’s a PR stunt. They are still desperate and the new Head is terrible. The school will never be on the level of the top schools in the DMV. The kids who go there are those rejected from the upper tier schools. FACTS.

Ah, I was waiting for you to comment. Did you get a new job yet?

So Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Penn, etc are admitting students that got expelled from high school? I’m skeptical.

Go, Bullis. Love my Bullis kids. Great friend group too! Bullis. Following the future of education! Sidwell is so stuck in the past - kids there are so stressed out. Go ahead Sidwell parent deny this for us. Tell the truth about how painful it is to get an A and how stressed your kids are for NO reason. Follow the Bullis model. We're doing it right!

Kids getting into good colleges is a publicity stunt? I think you are a little off today friend. And the new HOS is awesome! Hiring more teachers and more counselors, and is a great communicator. They are not desperate, they have a wait list at every age group

Didn’t say that. Bullis admit kids who get expelled from other privates. If you are there then you know it’s fact.

This is true. They take many HS kids kicked out of other privates. Maybe the new Head is better but didn’t he just start. People are saying PR stunt because of the 10 or so admits to Ivy’s are from 3-5 kids. Look at the Instagram and compare it to Sitwell’s, Maret’s and many many others.

Bullis is its own thing and I’m not sure why those bashing it are so insecure, but you don’t have to worry about Bullis being Sidwell. It’s not and I am very hopeful that it stays the diverse community that is what drew us there in the first place.

Bullis is the David S. Pumpkins of DC-area private schools! Any questions???!

For any school who wants to get their ivy admits up, just take more hooked kids.

Are you suggesting that they may be fluffing the numbers or the colleges?

I’m not suggesting anything. I’m telling you that Bullis’ PR statement is fluff. Sidwell is sending at least 14 students to Ivies and MIT. I guarantee that those 14 Sidwell students (and others who haven’t posted) were admitted to way more than 14 Ivies. Sidwell hasn’t released the total number of colleges their students have been admitted to so far…because they don’t need to prove anything.

HOS is finishing up his 3rd year. What he did as a new HOS during the pandemic, and beyond, has endeared him to me, and my child, forever.

So because students got kicked out of other schools, you don't think they deserve another chance? To go to college? All I'm going to say about that is that kindness is a virtue

Here’s an idea. Instead of worrying so much about your kids chances at the elusive HYP, worry about whether you are raising your children to be good people. Try to raise them to be adults who will not go on DCUM and put down other people’s children just to make themselves and their fragile egos feel better about their lives and their choices. Sad, sad, sad.

I know this is not true.

I think it would be naive to think Bullis' rise wasn't attributed to its massive level of resources, and stunning campus. It is drawling in the best of the best students. Sidwell is fine but, yes, Bullis has taken over the "number one" spot when it comes to best schools from a college prep perspective.

Sadly, however, Bullis is not “drawling” the best of the best spellers …

It’s definitely “drawling” the best of the best boosters and marketers — publishing admissions data only is a sham as others have pointed out. Sure, show admissions then show matriculations and you’ll give viewers a clearer picture.

BINGO. Well said and we can leave this ridiculous thread now. Give viewers the clear picture. Not 3 kids who are getting in the all the Ivy’s. Bullis will never be top tier. They only beat out the top tier schools in football, lacrosse and track.
