Divorcing wife, leaving kids behind, moving to a bachelor condo in Miami (rooming with his widowed dad), and then hitting the city on a random weeknight staying out till 2am.

PP who knew him, he seems to have gone thru a huge shift in the last few years, have you seen him recently — I wonder if the late night fun was sketchier than simply a hackathon in his mid-life makeover mindset.

It is terrible to post something like this. Blaming the victim is trashy.

Actually I don’t mean to blame him at all, just reading his story made me think of my DH own midlife crisis symptoms, and all the recent threads about it recently, and thinking about what risks he may be taking in ways I don’t even think about. Like maybe checking where he is staying when he travels or checking in if he is out late.

I guess in this case, the victim didn’t have someone looking out for him in that way so it’s moot. Maybe his dad? Losing his wife last year and now his son, just awful.

I am the PP who knew him. I can definitely see how it looks like there is “more” here, based on his recent move and divorce (which happened years ago and was amicable). But I don’t think there is. I think he was out with friends, either couldn’t find an Uber or felt safe to walk, and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Quite possible he had been drinking and didn’t have his wits about him. I so hope the SF police can provide answers.

All of those speculations on there being “more to the story” are looking to placate their own fears. It could happen to any of us walking down a city street — but if we can “blame” some other factor “out way late” or “crypto mom hit” or “midlife crisis dalliance with a drug dealer” etc, it’s makes them feel like it won’t happen to them.

Just like the terrible hike. An entire family died because they went hiking on a hot day, who hasn’t done that??

Just stop it. He was a rich and successful man, living a good life. He went out for drinks with friends. This isn't a midlife crisis. This is a work trip. And going out for drinks with old friends or colleagues while on a work trip is totally normal. There is nothing to indicate this was sketchy. You know for a fact that he has a friend reading this--- why would you post it? Go away, the man was brutally murdered and you are piling on.

I blame the woke. Ever since Trump the left has gone bonkers with it's policies.

Also he tried to get help from 2 cars and they both sped off.

Lee had left the San Francisco area six months ago and moved to Miami but was back in the city on business. He had extended his trip by one day when he was murdered.

'He did comment on San Francisco deteriorating, which is why he actually had just relocated to Miami,' said Jake Shields, a champion UFC fighter who knew Lee well.

Shields told NewsNation that Lee had 'no enemies,' adding: 'He was a good human being — he added to society, he was a good person, everyone loved him. - DM

So sad what the left has done.

Remember that half the posters here won’t have but one glass of wine and grasp their pearls at the thought of weed. They can’t imagine an adult having a fun night out.

A father of two should not be having weed, full stop. That is part of being a grown up. You don’t get wasted either.

I do question parents who move away from their kids across the country, except when truly necessary like military deployments etc. If SF is so bad why did he allow his kids to stay there full time? Does his ex still live in the city and not the Peninsula?

Right - because when Trump was in office there was no crime and all the land was a utopia. Trump clearly solved the mental health crisis and homelessness, and everything else. He is the answer to everything and clearly worked magic in the short 4 years he was in office!

Miss me with this BS.

I’m the PP who knew Bob. I am a parent myself so I understand the sentiment. I want to defend my friend but not at the expense of divulging anything personal about his kids so I’ll just say, as someone who knew him, he was a devoted father who adored his children. I know that might not line up with your thoughts above, and you’re welcome to think what you want about him, but you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who says he didn’t love his kids fiercely.

So weird he had his wallet and phone, so not a mugging. A homeless guy basically just ran up and stabbed him twice??

No the left became more aggressive and rude and more woke. Trump aggravated the left. Unisex bathroom or gender neutral didn't become a popular thing with the left until 2019 when the left started screaming.

Most likely some let out on the streets again and again despite a lengthy criminal past.

Come on. Not to go off on too much a tangent, but for some responsible adults, a small amount of marijuana is legal and more tolerable than alcohol. In many ways, alcohol is the more dangerous drug, "full stop."
