Emory is out

I have been to Oxford campus. It’s lovely. Nice small school. Students are close with the professors. Actually a really nice way to start small and end with an Emory degree. Congrats to pp!

Seems like the biggest college scam that I have heard of since Trump University.

Emory's Oxford campus is nothing like Emory's main campus in Decatur/Atlanta.

It’s different but not a scam... People should definitely do their research to see if they think they would enjoy a small setting like that though. From a university perspective you are not treated differently whether you are in oxford college or Emory college.

Think of it as being somewhat similar to the college system at Oxbridge, which for many people is hard to wrap their head around.

I wish I knew whether posters applied to Emory/Atlanta campus only, Oxford only, or both. Did those admitted to the Emory campus only apply to that campus? We found the existence of two campuses to be difficult to navigate -- especially admissions-strategy-wise. Despite the near-identical average GPAs and test scores, there seems to be a sense that Oxford is easier to get into. At the outset of this process, when you have no idea the outcome of your other applications, it is difficult to know whether it is worth applying to Oxford only to increases chances of acceptance. My son is attracted to urban campuses and was leaning towards applying to Emory campus only until the Emory admissions rep at the admissions tour presentation stated that she "recommended that you apply to both, it's as easy as checking a box and you can be admitted to both." The website also states you can be admitted to both. But has anyone heard of someone being admitted to both? Or of being admitted only to Emory and not Oxford? My son applied to both, was admitted to Oxford only and over the last couple of months has decided he really doesn't want a small campus.

It is a scam if Emory is charging the same price for each campus.

I have known & visited Emory's Oxford campus for many decades. It is small charming and interesting for about one semester. And I love Georgia--the entire state, but Oxford campus should charge far less than Emory's real campus.

Consider schools like Franklin & Marshall in Pennsylvania if attracted to Emory's Oxford campus. You should get a substantial scholarship & a lot more amenities for your money.

My DS applied only to the Emory campus and was admitted to that campus this year. He is a stem student so Oxford did not seem like a good fit.

You you have a point. It should be less.

Our high stats DC applied to both Atlanta & Oxford despite only seeing Atlanta. Was accepted only to Oxford.

I have seen reports of the entire range of admissions offers:
Admit to both
WL to both
Admit to one but not other
WL to one but not other
Admit to one and WL to other

DD accepted to Emory but will actually be going to UMD, I am afraid. We do not have endless buckets of money for Emory and would to have money left over for graduate school. Kid is liberal arts focused. Not particularly interested in medicine, law school or MBA.. and couldn’t justify the Emory cost.

The main campus or Oxford?

My kid was only willing to go to main campus so only checked that box. She didn’t get it but will be going to another T30 that is a better fit. I think Emory honors what the kids chose(unlike NE), no one gets Oxford without indicating they want to be considered for it.
