If you disagree with the speech, just don't listen. It seems so simple. I am not sure why anyone takes the position that they know what is best with regards to what others hear/listen to.

If you think you can actually build a moat around ideas, differing thoughts and speech you may find "offensive" or "hateful", I think one shows their inability to critically think for themselves.

There is no reason to set out to "cancel" something that you may find offensive. Just turn the channel, don't go to the talk, don't attend the event etc

I think that people who spread conspiracy theories that result in local restaurants being shot up and set on fire present a danger. You don't. We will just have to agree to disagree.

At a certain point you need to draw a line in the sand about what’s appropriate for little kids, especially if it’s held in a public space. I’ve known people whose lives have been ruined because of childhood sexual abuse. I have an extremely low tolerance for anything that even faintly resembles grooming. And I’ve never voted R in my life. This issue is deeper than political posturing.

Your parents got to make that choice. Many public school parents are never given that choice before their kids are exposed to a man parading around in a thong. That’s the point.
