Hamilton historically and accurate and a letdown

They really could have done something special and accurate to really shine a light on American history.

How about picking up a history book instead of relying on entertainment to teach you

I mean, it was inspired by Ron Chernow's EXCELLENT biography of Hamilton. Lots of the general facts are accurate. But, of course, there was some license taken, such as with casting. But those were deliberate, artistic choices.

Yes, it's not a documentary. But, no, it's not "inaccurate."

I happen to also find it brilliant, entertaining, and fun. I've seen it twice and I'd see it again (I also read the Chernow bio).

I didn't hate it. Quite the opposite, we all LOVED it in our family.

We loved it and so did many others - why get your kicks raining on others’ joyful parades?

White people rap music. Listen to some JayZ, Public Enemy, DMX, Lil Wayne and other rappers to get an idea of what rap music can sound like. The Hamilton songs are like Disney music channel watered down style for white people, who feel so street when they rap along. Upside: you don't have to go "mmm" when the n bomb drops.

So what? Then don't go. Plenty of people to take your place. And, ftr, plenty of us listen to "real" rap too.

Are you always such a dick?

I mean you don't have to love the show but obviously it is going to be a simplified version of history.

Add to the list, don't watch South Pacific, or Assassins, or Miss Saigon, or Newsies, or anything set any time other than today, and featuring any story line that involves history or actual historical people. And as someone earlier noted: Don't go near any Shakespeare histories, OP! Or really any Shakespeare at all, because even in comedies his geography is all wrong, and that will only inflame the ulcer you''re working on with your ire over Hamilton.

Maybe just watch modern sitcoms on TV. Not dramas, they might get police procedure wrong and that's inaccurate....Wait! It's inaccurate that on sitcoms, people live in gigantic apartments in what are actually very high-cost city centers! Stick to just news and documentaries. There you go, OP.

Case in point - no criticism of Hamiliton is allowed. Good thing we're anonymous here, or unhinged posters like the PP would hunt us down at home and literally get in our faces, not just figuratively from behind their computer screen! #triggered

Sounds like the few who don’t like Hamilton are the triggered ones.

Many people said something along the lines of taste is taste but we loved it. The critique that it was historically inaccurate was silly. It was much more accurate than many historical movies and shows. And the best part was it spurred so many youth to read more about early American history.

The title of the thread is obviously not a positive one - the OP wanted to know if anyone else felt the same way. Many do. But of course, the Hamilton stans can't resist crashing the thread to wax poetic about how "genius" this show was. I'm sure there are other threads that are all about fangirling for this silly show - why the need to come here?

Nice try defending monopoly of unjustified position and not brokering any dissent.

OP’s opening statement invites discussion around historical accuracy of Hamilton show. Like many others, we found it to be remarkably faithful to history but used artistic listen e in the way they told the story.

OP’s kids love it. Talk about not just looking, but kicking, a gift horse in the mouth.

“I wish Hamilton was more historically accurate since my kids are obsessed with it. So utterly bizarre.

Thanks for the laugh! I'm not #triggered. It's sarcasm.

And the post doesn't say No One Can Criticize Hamilton Ever, FFS. Since you're sarcasm-impaired, I'll interpret: The post mocks how OP and OP's ilk fail to comprehend that works of art--not just Hamiton, but many others-- do not have to be perfect historical records. That's not their purpose. But OP just does not get that. Hence some fun with OP's take on historical "inaccuracy," a take which leaves OP with pretty much nothing left to watch, listen to or read.

Hope you grow a sense of humor soon! First, though, get the stick out of your backside. Can't learn to laugh if you've got one of those stuck up there, PP!

You can always tell when someone is triggered after they double down on their manic, wordy, posts. Trust me - I'm laughing!

Nope what was bizarre was the assertion that only people who agree with OP are welcome to comment on the topic raised. That was truly bizarre.
