Shrinking on Apple TV

He’s doing an amazing job with the Parkinson’s storyline.

You haven’t missed it - they haven’t showed the actual accident where the Mom dies (presumably in her Mini Cooper.)

I agree that the befriending of the drunk driver who killed the mother - and the daughter’s foot stomping insistence that her father be his therapist! - is unrealistic AF. I’m hoping it won’t take me out of the show because I love everything else.

Season three is already confirmed.

jimmy will definitely hook up with the HIMYM Cooper seller

OMG I didn't realize they were both on HIMYM. Cobie Smulders is also in Marvel.

A similar watch pattern for me for Shrinking, Ted Lasso and Schitt’s Creek too. They take some getting used to.

I got used to Ted Lasso and Schitt's Creek, and ended up loving both. I'm still struggling with Shrinking after two seasons. But I'll watch because we're short on other options we're both semi-interested in.

Took me about half way through the second season. Shrinking took the longest with the lowest payoff. But nothing else in that space right now.

I get that they are supposed to be very “different” kind of unique personalities, and that is fine. But have you ever heard a straight woman say to another “I love the way it feels when your boobs press up again mine” when they hug? That is just not something I can imagine two women saying. I feel like they need a female editor to go through and redline some of the dialogue.

But I love Michael Urie and Ted mcginley in this. Michale urie is really so good — in another actors hands that role might be really irritating but he makes it sing.

I find this frustrating, too. Gabby is so compelling (the actress and the character when she's not being SO SASSY) but her dialogue is just so over the top.

This character is very similar to how she was on the podcast Two Dope Queens, so I don't find it over the top at all.

I love this show!!!

What? I thought that was general knowledge.

1) who buys the same car for your daughter that your mother DIED IN A CRASH in. What?? A 2004 Mini is basically go-cart, in LA traffic nonetheless

2) I can get behind having some weird shared grieving with the DD who killed your mom, and it’s clear his life derailed too, but COME ON. That is a bit hard, but I really appreciate the Rory actor playing a very different role than he does in Lasso.

I don't think the mom died in the mini - it was just a car she had when she was younger?

so much of the show is unbelievable that it's weird that people are clinging to the drunk driver relationship.

Ahhh, I wasn't familiar with her. I finished Season 2 last night, and I will say that her Thanksgiving Day storyline made me cry. She's an excellent actress. (And damn, her Derek is hot!)

Harrison Ford is so good. And I LOVE Wendie Malick. She's gorgeous and I love that she (or her character) aren't trying to act younger.

for some reason, I started rewatching Hot in Cleveland this past week. I enjoy all the actresses from that show

I actually think that Harrison Ford is a horrible actor. Don’t get me wrong, he has a place in the pantheon for being Han Solo and Indiana Jones but I find him kinda cringey in Shrinking, I remember feeling the same way when watching the last Star Wars movie he was in.

Presumed Innocent? Regarding Henry? Good flicks

I think he is well cast in this as the curmudgeon navigating aging/end of life issues.

Witness? K-19? Blade Runner? The Fugitive? Air Force 1? Patriot Games? But the last 3 are kind of similar in tone action flicks with less acting and more angry heroics.
