Yes we do. The process you might not like but we do incarcerate violent teens. |
Parents need resources to do so. They need four, shelter, health care, education. They need basic human rights. If you don’t provide someone basic human rights don’t cry to me about the crime. We should not house people in lead ridden rat traps with no groceries and then complain they grow up to be bad parents. |
Did you know that there are millions of impoverished families, who through similar unfair circumstances have very little monetarily, but still teach their children right from wrong. |
They are very often released soon afterwards. |
I agree. They’re likely right wing trolls who love to criticize DC. |
They're truly pathetic. |
To be clear, your scenario is a complete fabrication. At this point, we don't know what transpired when this homeowner went out to investigate the sounds he heard. I have not seen any indication that he simply started shooting wildly. |
LOL. Yeah, no one ever gets killed with knives or anything. |
Look in the mirror. Better yet, look outside your front door. |
I was not replying re: this specific scenario but to the PP who stated "If I blow away some punk caught breaking into my car, the only thing I should ever have to deal with is a big thank you for taking out the trash." That specific response endorces vigilante justice without the threat of loss of life, ans no that's not ok. |

It’s not the police; it’s the Council. Keep voting losers out for themselves and hugs for criminals and you get what you get and you don’t get to complain 😏
Frankly I think we need federal rule until we can prove we can govern a viable safe world capital city |
Bobby trap the car with permanent paint like the bills in the bank? That’d be hilarious and a good deterrent. I’d buy that. |

I thought DC crime overall had dropped in 2022.
It has. Dollars to donuts none of the tough-on-crime posters in this thread live in DC. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even live in the metro region.
I agree. They’re likely right wing trolls who love to criticize DC.
They're truly pathetic.
Look in the mirror. Better yet, look outside your front door.
+1. The PP you were responding to is just sad and delusional. I live in upper NW, and am a 45 year old black man who has lived in DC my entire life besides college. I am highly concerned about crime and the direction that this city is headed, yet according to them I don’t live here and am a “right wing troll”. Just exhausting dealing with these people — really makes me feel like I have no voice. In the real world however many of my neighbors feel the same way I do about crime. |
So true, insane how many assumptions are being made. Why can we assume the 13 year old was trying to hurt him? Or had a weapon? I will wait for facts. Right now the facts I know are teens are dangerous in DC, legal.ststem sucks and these boys were out in a stolen car. |
