This. Plus he looks like absolute shit. If he had 9 million to spend on getting sober, I think he can pony up 500k to fix his face and body.

People age. And addicts don’t age well.

Focus in more than the superficial.

That was the nicest thing I could come up with.

"Perry dated Yasmine Bleeth in 1995. He also dated Julia Roberts from 1995 to 1996. He later dated Lizzy Caplan from 2006 to 2012."

You really can’t have relationships when your that deep into the spiral of addiction that he was.

And it sounds like he dated non famous people as well. He said a gf made a comment to him in 2001 that jump started the first public stay in rehab

idk why but he reminds me of Tucker Carlson for some strange reason????

I think it’s weird too. You can interpret it a couple ways, both unflattering. Is he saying Keanu was just as abusive with drugs and alcohol but someone managed to avoid death? Or is he saying why are these great talents gone and a no-talent like Reeves is still around? Both? Either way it’s an unnecessary shot. Keanu is pretty much well liked by everyone and still is considered an A-lister. His movies do well. This doesn’t make Perry look too good.

This is the way I read it.

Honestly, it just seems like regular old-school jealously on Perry's part. Keanu Reeves is still hot as hell and genuinely universally liked. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a personal back story like Perry was up for a role that went to Reeves.

Ok Keanu is adorable but he is a mediocre actor at best.

Have any of you ever actually looked at him? He's average looking at best. He does seem like a lovely person though.

But the snippets that are coming out from his book - the Keanu and Valerie references - I'm not sure why he's writing about EVERYTHING he feels - that's kinda too much I think. Kinda turned me off from his book although I still his his primary motivation to help others by sharing his story is sincere. Let's face it, he's got enough enough that the book isn't just to make him more. He risks a lot by writing his experiences but I think he maybe should have kept it focused on himself and not name dropped so much!

Agreed. I was looking forward to his memoir but the snippets have made me less so. It's all so sad. What a wasted life.

Aside from being unmarried and childless (something he could still do), hardly a "wasted life." He was on one of the most classic sitcoms on all time, which allegedly still makes him over $1M a month off royalties.

Really?? I had no idea the cast was still making that kind of money.

Friends is one of the biggest prizes in the streaming competition, and it’s still in syndication on regular TV. That doesn’t surprise me at all.

Ok crazy internet person. Someone takes celebrity chat WAY too seriously.

I watched the interview and I think he’s sad that he never married or had kids. His parents divorced, and it seems like he put a lot of stress on himself to make others happy and he was a bit miserable inside his head. Painkillers put him over the edge down the addiction path.

Now he seems like he’s constantly reminding himself it’s not his fault and seemingly trying to find purpose by helping others with his story/book. My takeaway is he’s still struggling inside his head.

He basically said his life would have been completely different had he never taken that one painkiller.

I think he means he wonders about what could have been: wife and kids, movie career, his health, etc.

It’s very sad.

There was a lot of drug use happening during the Viper Room era and I think Perry's comment was that Keanu is one of the few who came through it mostly unscathed. Many of the key players during that era died or had serious addictions in life.

He shouldn't have said it but I don't think it was a dig - just a musing about how so many suffered but Reeves seemed to escape the curse.

I watched the interview also, and it is definitely a sad story. I hope he can achieve sobriety.

I am kind of surprised that his people didn't help him select a more flattering outfit. It looked like a suit jacket hastily thrown over an old t-shirt and jeans.

Is it really that difficult for his management and agent to find him a young woman who would donate an egg so he can have a kid? The guy is rich and famous. Anderson Cooper just did it — twice.

Well if addiction is a disease, he’s calling out someone who isn’t prone to addiction. Reeves has had plenty of sh*tty times. It isn’t healthy to compare lives. Perry seem emotionally stunted. I’m glad he got sober but he needs more therapy.

Just like Chandler Bing, his parents’ divorce did a number on him.

I thought Diane Sawyer did a very good job and agree it was sad but wish him well now.

I am sure he is emotionally stunted. He spent his 20s, 30s, and 40s in a drug and alcohol daze. When there is addiction, most aspects of life don't progress in a healthy way. All of his achievements and career success and fame and fortune also happened under the cloud of addiction.

And yes, Reeves is very fortunate that addiction is not an issue for him. He has talked about his drug use but never had an ongoing problem with it.
