She earned big big money in Russia playing for a Russian team--over a million dollars per year. She'd been playing for the team for years.

So she kneels for her country’s national anthem but throws all of her “principles” out of the window for a couple of dollars to play a game in Russia. Sounds like a high character individual.

DH hopes they blast the national anthem in her cell 24/7 until she is released.

Ewww! You must be married to a real pig. Guessing you agree with him + love Trump- right?!

So many gross posters on this thread. So many are ok with locking up an American...as long as she is black + gay. And, do not tell me about the law...I am a lawyer.

I think it’s her hatred of her country that resonates most with her detractors.

10:14 that is why DH feels the way he does

And, he is still a Trump pig. Are you proud to be married to a racist?

He is neither a Trump supporter or a racist. He’s a veteran so people who disrespect the flag/ anthem make him angry.

Why are folk so stuck on Whelan? He has multiple citizenships, he was in Moscow with 80K IN CASH! 80K!!!!And multiple passports. That sounds way hinkier than Britney's mess up. Not that she should have taken any cbd into Russia. Also, is anyone asking why Canada, Britain, Ireland aren't trying to rescue their citizen?

Michael Flynn is a vet and tried to over throw the government. I bet your dear husband is ok with that.

I haven’t read anything to suggest she isn’t guilty but the punishment is obvioisly absurd.

If we cannot teach her to behave, maybe Putin can.

What punishment are you referring to? She has not been sentenced.

No. I think it was mighty convenient to pull her out of line two weeks before the start of the Ukraine war. How many times had she gone through that airport without caring a dash of marijuana, and now she’s a drug smuggler. Purleze. Question is why do you OP automatically believe a corrupt dictatorial state.

They probably mean the 10 years of jail being the usual punishment for this. Russia is harder on foreigners, too.

WaPo has an opinion piece that said sports and Hollywood capitulate to dictators and don’t, as some suggest, spread American values. Americans should stop working in dictator-run societies after this.

Russia can use her as a bargaining chip because we care about her but the Russian population pretty much doesn’t.

Exactly. Who are these posters who believe the Russian propaganda. Must be Carlson Tucker’s friends and relatives.

But yeah, you can't go to another country and not follow their rules and then when you don't be shocked about consequences.
I'm sorry I don't think she deserves 10 years but that's up to Russia, not us

10 years is typical drug sentence even in the us

Liar!

I think she’s guilty but I think we should try to get her back as she is an American citizen despite her disrespect for the flag

I haven’t watched FOX but they must be taking Putin’s side

Why bring Fox into a conversation about whether this person is guilty or not?
She pled guilty. WTH does Fox have to do with this?

So you think she plead guilty to drug trafficking because she had a choice. Wow, the intellectually disconnect you have is frightening.

Pleading guilty to a charge in which you are innocent of the crime but have no chance of proving your innocence is not a novelty that even you should be aware. There are innocent people who plead guilty sitting in jails all across the US because they could not get a fair representation in a US court. I can only imagine her Russian attorney informed her that pleading guilty would score her some points with the Russian courts because there was no way in HELL she would receive a fair hearing in Russia.

She went to Russia. She brought drugs. She knew the risks. I say, Let her rot!
